People saying this is unpractical: 1. It's not meant to be practical. 2. It's a great skill and it shows that the martial artist is well trained. 3. If you can aim at someone with this kick, who is to say that you can't aim at someone with a basic hook kick? 4. How will you ever improve your other "practical" kicks without advancing in them.

hook kicks are just about one of the most powerful kicks a martial artist has in his or her arsenal..those who think it is not practical can go observe a martial arts class to see this
@llburnu11 жыл бұрын
I never said it wasn't absolute Hell attempting to perform the kick. And, sir, YOU have no business telling me what I can and cannot do. When someone is truly dedicated to performing something, they will try and train until they can perform it. It's been a good nine months, and I've got that spin hook down. You may have many more years of experience than me, so I have no doubt that you could wipe the floor with me, but you have no business judging my capabilities when you haven't seen them.

HACKS THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. Nah, I'm just Joking. I want to learn how to do this kick, as it's always been of interest to me. I've only been training in Martial Arts for about 4 Months, But I've had about three years of Stamina and Conditioning, so I learned plenty of Techniques pretty quick. I mastered the Tornado Kick in under a week. I'm still not going to try this, though. Hell, I can barely do a 360 Spin Hook, So I am sure I would break my spine if I tried this now. Keep it up!
@danielTrikz12 жыл бұрын
@danielTrikz in any case we broke roamed the context, the discussion was the name of the kick, and both are correct, because in taekwondo not have the money to be made in the soil and Trickz if available, but the end is the kick it, both names are well within the context of their discipline, the difference is 180 degrees, so as to you call 360, we call 540.

So tired of everyone hating on taekwondo's flashy kicks. They're obviously not gunna be used in an actual fight but they still show your control and your skill as an martial artist. Taekwondo isn't just fancy impractical kicks so I'd appreciate it if people actually looked into it a bit more before making idiotic assumptions.

@gaffelnskje to answer your last and only question: i do not know how i will set up a kick like this, my body just performs it, because of repeated conditioning i no longer think, my body thinks for itself, so if i throw this kick its because IT WILL hit him because i've been practicing for so long that my body just throws the kicks that it should
@CodeKiller199912 жыл бұрын
@demodome In real fight you can do this kick only before the opponent come to close, so you can use it to do a "one hit ko fight" (with the speed and the power the kick has, if you touch the head of the opponent, he is ko).

@DunkableDave well yes in certain circumstances it has a chance to kill but more often it wouldnt be because it stops the heart but because it breaks ribs that puncture the organs

i think that tae kwon do is the most beautiful martial art.
@harryjpepper13 жыл бұрын
@ssjanime250 fair comment mate, personally i feel the art should still be one of fighting or combat when that element is removed it feels hollow and more like tricks, its like in between parkour and kung fu sounds awsome but in reality it just seems impractical but still i understand safe.

@danielTrikz12 жыл бұрын
@cutevil15 жыл бұрын
I think the basics are more important. If you cannot deliver a concrete kick or cannot make 360 jump perfectly, then even if you can do some flashy movement it's basically just for show. Flex and coordination are very important. One who can do good horse stance for 20 min and crane stance with eyes closed for 10 min can probably have the real kicks (or easily learn a real kick)
@VchaosTheoryV12 жыл бұрын
@demodome, this is true. I have done this kick successfully and paid the price in the finish up when the opponent delivered a roundhouse to my supporting leg causing me to flip 360 degrees to the ground. It was not pleasant to land on your side either. So, forewarning.

thats why real fighters crosstrain! Also, a good TKD can TKO before it goes to the ground. Thats the nice thing about kicking; you get a shot at it first. Aikido would screw with that first-strike theory though, LOL.

@gaffelnskje i take kick boxing too, but i disagree with you how do you know that hes going to throw THAT kick in the first place? you know, these guys break 2 - 4 louis ville sluggers at the same time with a single kick, dont think you might wanna block any kick that guy throws, unless youre surely strong as hell. do you know how much training (intensity also) that is required to obtain a black belt in korea? how to avoid the kick? (if you ever get the chance to predict it) evay it
@cbrm1214 жыл бұрын
A good black belt will avoid a fight but will fight if need be. And a black belt does mean something in some cases. In most martial arts today you earn your black belt but you don't deserve it. there are very few martial arts left were you only get your next belt when u deserve it. And I love how the one kid thinks because he is bigger he will beat his dad in a fight. Just because you are bigger than someone doesn't mean u will win a fight against them.

It may not be practical, but don't mistake that with possible. It can and does work if you train in sparring matches with it, check here on youtube for knockouts with some of the kicks you find impracticable.

its so amazingly fast, if you will do this in a TKD fight i think the other guy would be tottaly suprised by this,

"moltenthoughts" I agree with you as well I think maybe you could pull this kick off only "within the rules of teakondo ring sport" I also believe that every martial art is very nice and it teaches you a lot about your self & it also teaches you respect but there are martial arts that are more effective than other's

It's only 180 more of a spin than a tornado kick, so I guess it's not so farfetched if one applies himself to reaching the goal. What I do wonder about is whether that first 180 step on the ground is really crucial for acquiring the necessary spin, cause fight-wise it's an empty move that gives away intention. I can do a tornado without that extra step and consider it bad practice to do otherwise. So I wonder if it's really needed here as well.

@philyking13 жыл бұрын
@moussleouf Absolutely right. A lot of people seem to miss this. People keep saying to me, ok so you can kick six and a half feet in the air (i'm short btw), so what? That has no use. I say that if I can kick hard and accurate at that height than my kicks mid or low will be that much stronger, faster and all around better. Some theory applies to forms (Kata's) etc. One thing makes other things better.
