I was watching a documentary about current Indian lifestyles and a young man stated that they were never 'Native Americans' - He stated that they have always been Indigenous. They did not receive that prior title until someone from another land came to take theirs. I agree with him. It was a lovely documentary, as well.

I went looking to find information about Charlotte Pinkerton, if she was related to the Pinkertons who started the detective agency.. none found. the babies on the cradle boards are not happy! maybe they were concerned about the man under the black cloth, who was there one minute, gone the next. thank you 40 Historical Files for these beautiful images. I have some of the same photos throughout my house, 2 of which are hanging on the wall in the bedroom- 2 little girls looking defiantly at the camera as if to say, 'we are strong!' the music fits well with the history of the people.. haunting, carrying what I'd call desperation, mixed with sadness and morbidity. I'd like a print of Coming Running and her children. I wonder if her smile is in response to her husband returning from hunting or scouting out a different camp. when I finished reading The Trail of Tears, I felt angry.. not as much as when I finished Killers Of the Flower Moon. a terrible travesty was perpetrated against people like our ancestors, who were trying to escape tyranny but showed the same evil and disregard for humanity as they wanted to leave behind. I wonder if the young girl in the stream was backing away from a snake (18:26).. thanks again for these meaningfull images.
