For this week’s video, I upcycled a dresser from the thrift store to use in our master bedroom closet. I used DIY Paint in the color weathered wood along with DIY clear wax for a top coat and liquid patina as a decoupage medium. I used the JRV decoupage paper "Black and White" floral to totally change the look of this piece. Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey! I appreciate that you are here!

I love that paint color, especially for your husband’s clothes. The decoupage paper has flowers but it is black and white - and who says men can’t have flowers as decor?! Lol Glad to see you used the plastic wrap! When you begin smoothing out, remember to go from the center out to the edges, you are pushing the air bubbles out as you get to the edges. Also, it’s so much easier to sandpaper the edges if you have the project up and you’re sanding down in one direction. Going across is like playing Russian roulette w ripping your work, and it’s more tedious. I hope your husband enjoys his new dresser-Happy Fathers Day! ❤

Wow…. That paper is gorgeous. I love black and white prints. We live in an old farmhouse that had one closet. We took the smallest bedroom and my husband turned it into our closet room. He built in dressers under the windows and shelves for our shoes and folded clothes. He added double hung rods and a special place to hang my longer pants, dresses and skirts. Best of all, he liked my suggestions to paint the fixtures a dark charcoal grey. It turned out amazing.

I’ve had it in my cart for a while trying to decide if I want to use it on a project I have planned and this convinced me!! Love it! Funny thing...I am contemplating painting my big dresser. Had it for a couple years, and have changed my mind several times as to what color and decoupage or inlay for the panels. I already have weathered wood from another project, but my tunnel vision mind didn't even consider it! It can't be too flowery or frilly cuz it's not going to be in a closet, and the Boss (I let him think that sometimes) doesn't want it too feminine. I was showing him your before and after results, and he gave a thumbs up. As I was showing him...I saw you have a VERY similar dresser to what I'll be painting (the top of the taller piece staged behind the dresser you just painted). Dang it! It's times like these I wish I still had FaceBook or IG so I could show you what Im talking about...and get your (creative) input.

I liked it, but I didn’t think the hardware went with it, too chunky with the flow of the paper and wrong colour. I would have added the Crystal knobs. That paper is so versatile, it would look nice with white or black paint too.
