I love how smoothly it runs, but the increase in FPS is not as dramatic as I expected.
Common quality options have been set to the highest possible.
I advise you to turn off PT in all scenarios and lower RT if necessary.
Please note that my display is capped at 120 Hz.

Seems like in ultra graphics settings, games are more GPU bound. The only uplift in performance seems to be the 0.1 and 1 % lows, which indicates a smoother experience for the x3d configuration. What surprised me, was the Hellblade's reading. Maybe it's a bug with the recording software.

Your guess is probably right. CPU helps a lot at 1080p and it's more GPU bound from 2K. The VRAM requirement varies with the resolution and RTX 4070 has only 12GB. It's more evident in Metro Exodus where I set Shading Rate to 4.0x. That would be almost equal to 8K from the native resolution 2K. In most scenarios, however, players will keep it at 1.0x. FPS readings seem to be choppy sometimes and I suspect the benchmark software. It seems to alter my fan speed curves by default. Overall, the experience is very pleasant with more stable performance. While the FPS didn't increase much, the random stuttering has now disappeared.

there is really 0 reason to buy a X3D chip if you have a 5000 series or higher CPU.. this is more of just buy any CPU if your on a older zen 1 or 2 like a 1700 or 2000 series or even 3000 series cpu.. there is then a good uplift. also depends on what GPU you are running.. but I'd bet that if you ran a 4080 or even 4090 at 2K ultra settings on every game there would not be much a diffrence between a 5600X to say a 7800X3d. it becomes even more true at 4K.. So the real question is what games are you playing and what resolution are you going to play.. and people don't buy a 4080 or 4090 to play at 1080P.. to me that is silly even for high refresh rate.. id rather go middle ground of 2k with 144 htz. I believe that is the best resolution to play on. 4k to me is overrated..

I bought this CPU on a deal, but I wouldn’t recommend buying it only for gaming performance. In my opinion, the overall gaming experience is smoother, but FPS is not dramatically improved. At least, the random stuttering has disappeared. Other CPU-intensive tasks, such as editing and rendering, can also benefit from it. This upgrade could make sense if you plan to use the AM4 board for a longer period and keep the average air cooling.

Bro, if you go 4k and 32 inch monitor you will never go back. I jumped from 2k 27 to 4k 32 (mostly for work and text clarity) and the difference is mindblowing! And i have only 4070ti with 5700g cpu. No complaints, run every game 60+ fps, even most demanding with DLSS.

It's a little bit smoother, but not so much in FPS. Geekbench scores suggest 5600G has slightly better single-core performance (2042 vs 2018) and 5700X3D has better multi-core performance (8390 vs 10438).
