I'd have a very hard time not recommending the 5Diii for anything that moves... yes the 5Dii was "good enough" for sports for me for a long time (airshows in daylight or skiing in daylight) but the 5Diii is MUCH easier to work with. I'd also consider a 7D for daylight sports though as you'll get more reach and at base ISOs that camera compares very well with the 5Dii IQ wise.

in that case, yes, get the 5Diii or 7D. Not sure it's worth waiting on a 7Dii though, rumor has it it's going to be enough of an upgrade spec wise the price will see a similar increase as 5Dii to 5Diii so the used market won't drop all that much. Can't shoot with a camera you don't own!

I sent this question the the Canon Forum and never got an answer: Help is needed from those of you that have the Canon 5D MK3. I finally pulled the trigger and upgraded from the MK 2. Question: Looking thru the view finder on the MK 2 I have the center point selected for the focal point, the little red box comes alive when I touch the shutter button, and stays alive until I focus and shoot. How do I set that on the MK 3, it only comes on momentarily and dies away? I went into the menu under AF, 5th page, "AF Point Display During Focus" and I chosen each option and neither give me "Active" display.

Hello Ben, My camera was loaned and when I got it back, my icons in the MENU were changed, with only three: a camera, arrow, and the wrench. My other ones are missing! How do I get them back? Help anyone???

Ben - very informative. I have been using my Canon Mark II for years and recently purchased a "used" Canon Mark III from Lensprotogo. I can't seem to get the meter to work through the lens on Manual mode (I like to do everything on manual.) I usually judge my exposure by the exposure compensation line and the marker being at "0". It seems to work fine in both Av and Tv mode but I only see an arrow indicating my exposure is way off in Manual mode (even when I'm very much on the correct exposure. Hopefully I explained it all correctly. I even restored all the settings to the original camera settings. Any thoughts?

I don't seem to have the magenta or AF. Am I missing something?
