[5K] Wow+++!! Drone vs. Cabview Holland! Utrecht - Leiden SGM 23apr 2021

It is probably one of my last rides in the SGM. This 1975 train will unfortunately be taken out of service this year. What a good idea to capture this train with a drone! Skilled drone pilot Niels did this beautifully! Hopefully we will meet him more often. At 16:25 you can see the total length of the shot. His camera on the ground makes a nice "close up". Visit his channel for more of his work, link below. Bram films the arrival in Woerden. After Alphen a whole herd of spotters are standing on the left side of the track and are not aware that Cabview Holland is passing by.. Thank you both spotters for the beautiful recordings. Het is waarschijnlijk één van mijn laatste ritten in de SGM. Dit materieel uit 1975 zal dit jaar helaas buiten dienst gesteld worden. Wat een goed idee om juist deze trein met een drone vast te leggen! Getalenteerd dronepiloot Niels heeft dit prachtig gedaan! Hopelijk komen we hem vaker tegen. Vanaf 16:25 zie je de opname in de totale lengte. Zijn camera op de grond maakt een mooie "close up". Bezoek zijn kanaal voor meer van zijn werk, link hieronder. In Woerden filmt Bram de aankomst. Na Alphen staat een hele kudde spotters aan de linkerkant van het spoor en hebben niet door dat Cabview Holland langs komt.. Bedankt beide spotters voor de schitterende opnames. Veel kijkplezier!

Hij is echt geweldig geworden! We hadden ook wel heel erg geluk dat we precies de trein troffen waar die dag SGM op reed, in plaats van de "prachtige" SNG's ;)

This is perhaps your most complete video ever, starting in Utrecht to gorgeous spring countryside, from four to two to one track, both traditional windmills and wind turbines, from two land spotters in different locations to a truly magnificent extended drone shot, the absolutely on-time arrival of the train sharing your tracks and the beautiful station at Bodegraven, and tons of eye-catching buildings. Great job with the aerial filming, Niels and thank you Cabview Holland for incorporating it. It was beautiful. Someday we'll hopefully be able to see an 360 view of the surroundings when both hardware and software can make filming easier and everyone have the bandwidth without limit to watch it.

What a great trip this was! Some m ore new stations for me. Coming from Utrecht (Sp??) a different way to Leiden. I loved the drone contribution as well. And a beautiful day with some Wind generators and some dear old Dutch windmills as well. Well done! Be nice if you could ad the diverging tracks destinations from and to, please.

Kijk SGM op een intercitydienst. Denk dat het niet al te lang meer gaat duren voordat het gedaan is met SGM. 2 jaar terug gebeurde precies hetzelfde met DDAR, die reed toen ook op sommige ic diensten.

That was a fun ride with a little visual turbulence here and there. I suspect that line is a little lumpier than most. 32:18 - wow - rough rails or cross wind? It looked like the train was hunting for its rightful position on the very slightly counter-beveled rails. A little further out before the turn into Leiden that track on the right really looks like it could use some um um um um tender loving care? {^_-}

Yes it is a bumpy line, earth is pear and that is soft and bouncy..

Although a bit late to the debate, I believe that drone footage is an interesting but occasional alternative point of view to a cabview. After all, the purpose of a cabview is for us - the viewers - to see what you - the driver - see during your workday. Speaking of drones, I wonder whose appear in screen between 14'30" and 14'36". What it did show me is just how flat the topography of The Netherlands is. So the SGM is being retired. Well, with 45+ years of service NS has probably had its money's worth out of them. What equipment is replacing them? That which passed you after departure from Woerden (13'08") or the type at Bodegraven (19'32") and at that road crossing (35'03"). A last observation. I presume that all those windmills are still doing the job of work they were built for.

They are replaced by the SNG. Yes, a life size drone ;-) If you use this notation for time stamps it creates a direct link: 12:16.

It’s a shame that the SGM is disappearing. A wonderful oddity with push button cruise control. One distinctive stock less on the Dutch rail network.

Klopt! ik had mijn camera op het statief naast het spoor gezet zodat ik het geluid kon aanleveren voor de dronebeelden. aangezien een drone geen geluid opneemt omdat je dan toch alleen maar de motoren daarvan zou horen.

Ik weet het wel zeker. Sja, ik beschouw het bordje als advies, omdat het niet in het seinenboek staat, niet in de IAM en zelfs niet in de plaatselijke regelgeving voorkomt.

Zo simpel is dat helaas niet meer... Voor alle drones met een camera heb je een vliegbewijs nodig en moet je hem in de meeste gevallen laten registreren. Daarnaast moet een drone vanaf 2023 een categorie nummer hebben en die kan alleen door de fabriek geleverd worden als hij nieuw is. (Bijna) alle drones die je nu kan kopen zijn nog niet ingedeeld in een categorie en vanaf 2023 vallen deze in de zwaarste categorie waardoor je er eigenlijk niks meer mee mag. Als tip zou ik je dan meegeven, wacht even totdat er drones zijn met zo'n categorie nummer ;)

Hoe bizar, die geluidsschermen rond Leidsche Rijn om twee sporen van de andere twee sporen te scheiden en vol graffiti, meteen slopen dat nutteloze scherm in het midden, waanzin en geld verspilling.
