Adam was always such a villain. In a lot of ways, the child most like Alexis. The irony is that Gordon Thompson, who played Adam, just came out as gay a few years ago. I've thought it must have been a challenge for him on some level to play scenes like this. He's acknowledged that nobody on the series, to his knowledge, knew that he was gay and had he come out then, it would have been career ending.

This scene was actually a brilliant alternative version of "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner." Kudos to the scripters for giving us a popular show that was so far ahead of its time in some issues such as this. Very delicately handled.

Adam and Amanda are so young and so bitter. Luke is a breath of fresh air, his sincerity and gratitude is heartwarming. In my humble opinion, he was the most genuine and likable character in the whole series.

yea i agree, Luke (Billy Campbell) definitely was more down-to-earth and level headed, especially when he tried to talk some sense into Steven, it's a shame they didn't keep him on the show another year .. he could've made for an interesting love triangle with Steven and Bart Fallmont, in the sixth season, had the producers kept him on

Luke is lovely and Blake came along way in accepting Stephen's sexuality, coming from an Older generation. People forget in the 1980s it was a more fearful/prejudice atmosphere towards gays than now days, even many actors would reject gay roles for fear of ruining their career.

Al Corley (1# Steven) told me, he was tired to play Steven as the producer/writer (because of the concervative era/viewers) have wanted him straight instead of beeing gay. He would have played Steven otherwise for longer time.

It was a good scene and quite realistic considering the campiness and outrageous storylines of the show during these seasons. They tried to create some character development and based the interactions between the characters by relying on their personalities. I wish there were more human scenes like these in the later seasons. There were many in the first 2 seasons but then it was just over the top threats and hateful discussions. And the writers were not very good at creating “normal” characters (= not insanely rich or powerful) and having them mingled with the Carringtons. They were either gold diggers or totally bland people. Luke was fresh and relatable. Or maybe because I was a gay kid and I liked his puppy eyes and candor.

@JohnDoe-il4dz2 жыл бұрын
Easy. He seemed likeable at first, and promised to support Steven, "I understand, blah blah blah, take your time, blah blah blah", but then just a couple of episodes later "ok, dude, I'm tired of waiting, bye". Plus the fact that he was actively pursuing Steven despite knowing the latter was married which is... never a nice thing to do. Luke was a bit of a jerk hiding under that...Amai Mask face.
@hyper9984 Жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-il4dz I'm going to have to disagree. Luke even tried to back off once he knew Steven was trying hard to pull his marriage back together. Must not be in movie only, that young gay life gets perfect. I am 56 now and grew up in the 80ies with my granny because my mother died when i was 12 years old. And i grew up as a young gay teenager in a 45.000 inhabitants city and not in NYC or Berlin, London... But!!! and that is the most important fact before all other circumstances, i had a wonderful, lovely, heartwarming, tolerant, modern and fantastic old granny who accepted me how i was. She said only, i knew that you are gay long time ago but you are my grandson and i love you. That was all. And later my friend was also integrated in our family like a 2nd grandson of her. I had a wonderful coming out time at home. Thank you very much granny. R.I.P. 💖
