I love that the FFXIV writers remembered something I think most people forgot. When Zodiark died on the Source, his aether dispersed on every other reflection--except the 13th, where nothing can die. This whole time they were beating us over the head that nothing can die in the Void, but surprisingly I didn't see anyone predict Zeromus. That's why Golbez was going on and on about now being the time to put the plan into action: he had to wait for us to destroy Zodiark on the Source, so his aether could be dispersed on the 13th. Only while it rejoined the great flow on the other shards, it had nowhere to go on the 13th, so it coalesced and waited to be merged with another voidsent (which is why Golbez wouldn't let any other voidsent into his domain on the moon). Azdaja was just a happy accident--a being turning voidsent that desperately wanted to return home to the Source. The writers really impressed me with the post-EW patches. Doing it like this with no huge breaks in-between lets the story shine.

Kyle out here just completely owning the glam vibe of "Curious George's keeper and the Savannah Bananas guy had a love child, somehow".

The red moon theme "Another Moon" sounds so much better than its' snes/gba versions when it no longer sounds like two balloon animals fighting.

I truly love how much the remnants of Nidhogg cause Estinien to talk to dragons in the exact manner Nidhogg would. To the degree even Azdaja, hearing Estinien speak one (1) sentence, clocked him as Nidhogg-kinning. It's befitting for the one who was firstborn of the First Brood, elder brother to every dragon of this world, to act that way to every other dragon he meets. And that spirit carried on into Estinien.

Aether being unable to disperse on the 13th *should* mean that this is the only shard where something like Zeromus can happen…hopefully.

The Dragon's language is actually a fictional language created by the FF team. It has an alphabet, grammer, and everything. It's what the choir sings in the Heavensward music. It's not Latin, it's actually Dragontongue

As a superFF4 fan, there's a lot I could chime in about, but I most enjoyed how ya'll wiped to the trial and seemed to get more excited :D

I loved Golbez so much in both normal and extreme. It's the sort of fight that really rewards how observant you've been over the course of your adventure, and listening to the two of you hash out one of the most complex non-extreme trials was super fun.

idk if anyone else covers this, but its explained back in Heavensward that a Dragon's appearance is a reflection of the environment in which they grew up. Generally speaking, the First Brood grew up in various different locations on the planet, hence them looking different.

Man, it's so fun watching you guys do these trials blind. There are just so many times where I go "oh no, he has no idea what to do with this" and it's just great.

This fight was my first current trial and I loved it! Took me weeks getting a hang on it on normal... Tried EX and it was such a wake up for me. Made me realize my skill issues. Still haven't cleared it, but its fun!!

Dragons evolve over time based on their experiences/environment. This actually comes up in a custom delivery questline.

I adore the EX for this fight. It made me realize how good the sound design is with attacks having slightly differnt sound effects as tells for stuff with the same name

I like to think the past Golbez's voicelines being unvoiced is an implication that they're Azem's fragment of the Thirteenth. Past Golbez was "the best of us", praying for the unrepentant, trusting and with a heart big enough for more.

I have a theory on why dragons all look so different. As shown in Ultima Thule, dragons lay their eggs in aether rich areas and the lack of aether resulted in mutated forms, so my theory is that the amount and types of aether an egg absorbs effects how the dragon will look. This could also explain why different dragons have different elemental aspects. Nidhogg was fire and dark based but Hraesvalgr is ice and light based for example.

I swear there's something out there that translates at least portions of the Draconic speech. Someone did an analysis for the dragons found in Ultima Thul and how the language was expressing their despair along side the translation we get as a player talking to them. I wish i could find it!

I mean... I realize Kyle has a bone to pick with Y'sthola over this but her going "Perhaps..." is usually the team surreptitiously reminding us of things we should know but might have forgotten. In this case, that the 13th's Moon *should* have a reflection of the Watcher and the Loporrits. Which we know it *did* because they showed us an image of Golbez striking the Watcher down. Yeah she's speculating but she doesn't have that information, unlike us. It's been what though... six months since we saw that still image, nine? I can't say I blame them for reminding us that it happened.

Shockingly 'the wheel' Golbez calls out is just not a reference at all! It's just him repeatedly calling out the cycle of being unable to die and how miserable it is to him. But I do agree that he brings it up a whole lot. It seems like it could've been referenced in some cutscenes and maybe in his transition cs for memorability rather than an attack he repeats so frequently.

my favourite theory is that Durante is Zenos reflection and that Golbez is ours. Basically a world where we were actually friends. the first patch trailer many people thought it was Zeno's voice and there's been so many Zenos flashbacks when talking about friends... edit: also Estinein x Y'shtola think about it

I believe dragons reproduce asexually, and can grow into numerous different forms, though I don't know exactly what influences that process. A dragon's child can grow into a completely different type. Edit: Ah, the people have brought up the asexual reproduction.
