Yours fit the hole better than than the Kickers that I got. Had to cut away that top wall for it to sit all the way down. Then I drilled some holes to feed tie wraps through instead of using screws. Worked great!

did this 3 years ago on my 2007 impala i was able to leave the OEM posts on the frame and wires the speakers to that keeping the OEM harness

You can also use a Dremel tool with a Dremel cut off wheel to cut the plastic tabs of the old speaker holding on the housing. It's really easy. And then you get silicone the foam ring around the old housing when you install the new speaker after you tap with a couple screws at least three screws new speaker to Old housing. And then just put a light coat of silicone when you put the foam around the housing. I would just use some wire connectors to tap the new speaker after you cut the old harness adapter off you don't need to reuse the original plug.

i wanted a pair of these for my 2007 Cobalt to replace the stock door speakers that never work, but walmart was out and i wound up with the 5.25 inch version, still amazing for the money tho

All you have to do is take the old speaker off and cut that crappy harness and just tapp right into the wires I just did it and my pioneer speakers sound great can’t wait to switch out the rears

not sure if you're aware that there is an aftermarket wiring harness so you wouldn't have to cut the old ones out. not knocking your method. I too have an 08 impala, and wanted to switch out my door speakers. good video.
