Nice.. I was really considering this rifle when i saw it on shotshow. Now i think im gonna dig in to my pockets to get this.. 6.5 prc has enough power for all my hunts and with this lightweight package and accuracy i think i will be set without needing to buy a really expensive custom rifle.. thanks man.. hope to see some long range shooting with your 6.5 prc. Good vid!

I've got this same rifle and it is a shooter. Ya, the bolt is a little rough. I polished mine up with some 2000 grit paper which helped some and it had smoothed up some with use. It's still a bit "grabby" if it's not cycled straight. I bedded the recoil lug and added bedding compound in the fore end to try to stiffen it up a bit - that did help some but it is a bit flimsy. I also put an APA lb gen 3 break on it. I can spot my own shots - recoil is next to nothing. This rifle flat out shoots thought. During load sight in and load development, it never shot a group over 1/2 moa at various ranges. After I had my load - I'm shooting the Hornady 147 eld m, I've been mostly shooting 12" steel plates and rocks. I've taken it out to 1100 yards so far. It's a great rifle.

That's awesome man, I need to polish it up a bit too.. I still need to take her out to long range. I was in the mountains a couple of weeks ago and the rifle is so pleasant to carry around, did not get to shoot it though cause we did not find any Ram :)

Dude that's awesome! You are a good shot. Hopefully an awesome round will be cheap like 9mm in the future so I can just afford the rifle lol then I'll work on rounds. Good stuff man

Nice video. I am a little late looking at it. Not a fan of the expensive composite barrels because of their cost. You can by the entire rifle with a steel barrel less than just the cost of one of those fiber composites barrels. I just purchased a 6.5 PRC Savage Tactical for less than that barrel alone would cost. Of course, it isn't light, but it won't heat up as fast and shooting from a bench or a stand the recoil will be less. Nice rifle none the less and out of the box performance. I just like to keep a little more money in my pockets for more important things in shooting than the weight of the rifle.

It’s a Savage Action. Lube the bolt and run it with authority man! It’s got a floating bolt head unlike others and you have to work it like you mean it until it beds in. The only weakness in this action from the factory is the extractor and that’s easy to correct via the aftermarket.

I have the 110 tactical has an 8+1 mag which the mag is a 300 WSM magazine and I shoot the 143 Hornady ELDX rounds good shooting gun even out to 1,000 yards with the Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 FFP and has the EBR-2C reticle (MRAD)(about to get the venom out on). And having the 9 rounds is nice as well. (Edit: Did but a timney trigger in it set to 1.5 pound pull weight now just waiting on gun season or hamas which ever comes first)

Nice groups considering the loose bipod, factory ammo, no rear bag. So if I got one, it might be an amazing hunting rifle.

At 2:14 you said the bolt is not that smooth. Did it smooth out with use? Do the lugs of the bolt feel too small at the back of the raceway so that there is slop in the bolt when all the way back? Love to hear you thoughts

Hi @Rupert . I'm gonna be doing a follow up review of the rifle soon. As i have enough time behind the rifle and used it on a few sheep hunts and trips to the mountains.

Question, which do you prefer this savage ultralite or the tikka super light? I am looking at the savage and the tikka lite veil wide land and just can’t decide. Which is more accurate?
@HuntBeatOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
If you are particular about the Action being smooth and all go for the tikka plus its less expensive than the savage but you cant get the 6.5 prc. Tikka dont have a 6.5 prc yet on their line up as far as i know. The savage accuracy wise is the more accurate rifle i just dont like how clunky the action is.

I've heard the 110 has a rough time cycling rounds. Did you run into any issues with it being tough or sticky when cycling the rounds through the action?
@HuntBeatOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Its kinda rough a lil bit sticky yes.. the agressive fluting on the bolt is the issue i think.. but she is light and shoots damn good. Pick your poison i guess :)
@chrisnegenman3 жыл бұрын
I had to cycle my bolt about 3-400 times, now it’s smooth as silk. I have the exact same set up, only sig is a 6x24-50 FFP moa.
@andrewrussell25133 жыл бұрын
@@chrisnegenman when I was looking at them it looked like the black coating causes it to be rough. I just ordered a 28 Nosler Ultralight last week, so hopefully it works out well!!!
@chrisnegenman3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewrussell2513 it will. I wasn’t impressed until I wore down the steel/coating.Now my only gripe is my stock and barrel are very close to touching. I’ll just file it down. But keep an eye on that. Great gun but it’s a flimsy stock. Browning Xbolt are much better quality for similar pricing on some models.
@aweinrich743 жыл бұрын
Very impressive gun and shooting! What scope is on it and how far out can that scope reach accurately before the target is too far away? (If that is even the right way to phrase it) haha
@HuntBeatOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
its the sig Sauer Bdx scope Sierra3 . it is paired with a range finder thru an app on a phone. once its paired via Bluetooth , once you range a target it will automatically give a a holdover given you put the precise ballistic data on the app.

What type of ring scope you had on your 6.5 PRC? I just bought a savage 110 back country 30mm scope ring and it doesn’t fit on the barrel because the 4 screw hole seem bigger than other savage 110. Thank you

Hey Neff, I went and got the same rifle. Have you had any issues with the front Sling Stud? Mine fell off after the 4th or 5th shot! The thread in the stock is bad. I glued and threaded back on and it fell off again during my deer hunt. I have contacted Savage but no success getting a response from them..any way..just wondering if you had any issues with yours? Thanks in advance.
@HuntBeatOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
No issues on mine. Could just be your particular stock, but i could see the potential of it loosening up in the future being its a synthetic stock. Hope you get yours fixed.
@maxcoatlhunter43223 жыл бұрын
@@HuntBeatOutdoors Yes I just did. I got a longer Sling Stud and threaded a nut. Put some epoxy and now it will be there for ever! I just wish their trigger guard where metal and not plastic.

@HuntBeatOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Cleaned it after. I should have cleaned it between shots. Thanks for the tip :)
@gspgsp1003 жыл бұрын
I've done both. Clean after each shot then after 3 shots then after 5 shots. I've also just shot the rifle and cleaned after each shooting session. I've seen no difference between the two methods. I think the long break in method was pushed by barrel makers to increase your shot count so you'll need a new barrel sooner.

Shooters folk lore. There is zero proof that this does anything.

Myth created by barrel makers to get guys to run a bunch of unnecessary rounds through the tube so they'll need a new barrel sooner.

Really bad from when you're shooting. Adjust the stock to shoulder contact, your cheek is never on the same place when you're shooting. This video was really hurtful to watch. No explanation of why you choose that ammo or caliber , no ballistic data, no barrel break in procedure mentioned? Just bad.
