Grabbed a 14 year Barrell store pick that’s 91 proof last month. Delicious juice.

We have the Remus highest rye just sitting on the shelf and though I'm a rye drinker just something I haven't really thought about getting it. Unfortunately we don't get many Barrell here. I have the Penelope 9 year and it's a banger plan on getting the architect and barrel strength soon. I would be more interested in the toasted rye from them. Hard to find that one around here to. Enjoy!!

I'd grab that Remus, it's a deal for around $50. Love the Penelope 9 year too! Barrel strength and architect I like a lot better than their toasted. I think most Barrell stuff is great, keep an eye out for it, or check out Seelbach’s. Appreciate the comment!

Why are you swirling the hell out of your glein though? Is that a nervous twitch or do you think it actually is doing something? Honestly curious.

I know, it's bad. Initially it helps coat the glass so you can get a better nosing. Also, if the glass hasn't had much time to open up, it helps get some air into the whiskey. And continuing to swirl a little before each nosing I believe allows me to pick up more notes. But I think because I do it a lot, my muscle memory took over and it got way out of hand here. It bothers me when I watch this video, that's why I added an apology at the end. Maybe I'll make a video about swirling the glass.

@averagejoeswhiskey haha yeah thought so. I just watched a video on "How To Taste Whiskey", it was by the current Van Winkle family member in charge. And he said under NO circumstances do you ever swirl the glass. He said it only opens up the alcohol and inhibits your ability to get all the flavors. It's on KZfaq if you look for it. I saw that video and completely disagree with Julian Van Winkle. There is absolutely a difference. I think Matt Porter at ADHD Whiskey did a video on how bad Julian Van Winkle's video was. But I'd encourage you to give it a try and decide, do whatever works for you. I will keep swirling, but try and make it less noticeable so I can live with myself.

@averagejoeswhiskey so you disagree with one of if not THE biggest names in bourbon, got it. And I can NOT stand that Matt dude. All I hear is baby talk and mumbling. I tried watching him! Turned it off a minute in 😆

@detroyt232323 I absolutely disagree with him. Jimmy Russell (I think) keeps his Rare Breed in the freezer. I respect him even more, but I wouldn't do that either. No wrong answers with whiskey. Do whatever makes you happy. I might turn this into a video, hopefully you can stand to watch. 😂 Can't fit everything into a reply.
