I couldn’t stand Steely Dan when I was younger, but there are not many groups I listen to more now a days. Thanks for the info and it’s cool to see what these studio musicians have done on their own.

Nice video on Peripheral Dan music 👍Victor Feldman is everywhere in the world of music. He’s has a Latin Jazz lp “Latinsville” it is great. He also appears on Joe Torres “Latino Con Soul” a rare album he plays some killer piano on it, what a talent. A fun video 👍

Nice logo on the shirt. Now I know the connection to Encore records from a previous posting. It would be cool to review some of the jazz influences on SD (eg Mingus, Ellington etc) and describe some representative albums.

Great Video Tim. I would add to your roster both EYE to EYE albums from 1981 and 1983 - the latter is called Shakespeare Stole my Baby. The (dan) force is very strong with these two albums. Produced by Gary Katz and has a whole host of great players. First album mastered by Rob Ludwig is a sonic dream and can be found for $5 (10 here in NZ) Shakespeare is a digital master and sounds a little bright. Both are siblings of Gaucho IMHO and hints of Kamakiriad. Fagen plays on a couple of tracks - On the Mend and Jabberwocky.

Nice one! Maybe you can do a review of the Fagen/Becker collaboration on Thomas Jefferson Kaye "First Grade" Album. Two songs of this album are written by the duo (American Lovers / Jones) and both arer playin a bit. Also Jeff "Skunk" Baxter.

And there is one more, basically a Steely Dan album with a female vocal - Rosie Vela's Zazu.

I find it curious that you point to "Pretzel Logic" as the album on which Fagen and Becker started using session musicians. They used Victor Feldman on their very first album, "Can't Buy a Thrill." Feldman also performed on every Steely Dan album that followed.

I may get Royal but I have an amazing original of Katy so it’s going to have to review as mind blowing for me to get it

A minor correction: it was Louis Johnson who played bass on Michael McDonald's first album and Michael Jackson's Off The Wall and Thriller albums. I think you only scratched the surface on Steely Dan sessions players. Patti Austin, Valerie Simpson, Jeff Porcaro,etc

Just got and listening to a Quadrophonic copy of Countdown To Ecstasy. Was not impressed. Secondary instruments would really "pop" out if the mix. It was odd.
