A considered approach to adding Nirvana's In Utero to my collection. Pick up my brand new Steely Dan T-Shirt (Babylon Sisters) or maybe your own Valedictorian Pennant and help support the Channel! shop.theuniversityofvinyl.com

Albini was referring to his OWN 2013 2xLP 45rpm DMM from tape pressing. In 2013, DGC released two vinyl versions of IN UTERO, both 45rpm DMM from tape. The other was the “official” Scott Litt mix, which is the 3xLP 45rpm DMM you’re referring to. I have both and I can’t decide which I like better. Except to say that the third disc is something I rarely if ever listen to. I would discourage anyone from making their choice based on that third disc. As far as price and availability, the Albini Mix is still readily available at a normal price. The 3xLP Litt Mix is supposedly awaiting an eternal repress, and is above $100 in M/M. Personally, I plan to sell the 3xLP and stick with the Albini Mix. It’s how the band wanted it (the label HATED Albini). The Litt Mix is how the label wanted it.

those ORG Nirvana pressings are stellar! I have that Albini mix too but, have not listened in a long time. Need to revisit that one. Thanks Tim!

I have a 33RPM which says Special Limited Edition Disc on front cover. The vinyl a almost clear but it's blueish green color. I purchased it at Moby Disc Records in Sherman Oaks, I would say maybe 1994 ish

I bought the CD when it came out, then the bog standard late 2020(ish) repress, but the 2013 Albini Mix double 45 was/is a revelation. I don't care if I ever hear the "original" mixes ever again.

Very nice score Tim! With ORG you really can't do too much wrong, especially if Bernie is involved. I have a lovely 2-LP Coltrane by them which sounds excellent. I bet yours sounds great! I did get the 2-45 version and I haven't listened to it in a while (I will take it out tomorrow, thanks to your reminder 😊) but, I remember it sounding very good. Oh, if I can take this opportunity to brag (just a little - seems only fair since you have literally a record store on *EVERY* damn corner!) I can't take any credit for this because I just simply bought it when it came out like a lot of things, but I do happen to have the 1st US non-club pressing of Nevermind 😁

I have the 2013 remix 45rpm. i also had the 2lp 45 from the box set of the original mix. imo the remix had higher fidelity. the original mix is slightly muddier sounding. i had listened to the original mix my whole life and when i heard the 2013 remix i felt it was like a breath of fresh air. thats why i kept that instead of the original mix.

I have the 30th anniversary deluxe box set. I also have the LP of that individually. And I happened to grab the 45 RPM version as well.

I lived near Seattle through the 90s. It was a great time to experience the grunge movement first hand. I'm more of an Alice in Chains fan, so I don't go all out for Nirvana. I bought the 30th Anniversary set with the bonus 10" disk. It works for me. By coincidence, I was in the same unit as Jason Everman until I left in 96.

I had a S Korea pressing, translucent brown. Sounded ballzy. My go to now is the 45 rpm 2013 mix. Wonderful.

The original pressings for all Nirvana lps are known to be the definitive ones to own. Plenty of shootouts were done by many others. Go original

@@Universityofvinyl I've had my eye on the Steve Mix but I just can't do 2lp 45rpm albums.

I also have incesticide in a clear blue from Moby Disc Records, from the past. I checked the prices on both on Disclogs. I can finally retire.

STEVE ALBINI MIX is the only one to have. The original is a remix that takes the original and dumbs it down Scott Litt was not the answer, his was the revisionist mix. . Steve did it right and that’s what Kurt wanted. Don’t believe any propaganda, it was the label

Great video as always. With stuff from the late 80’s and 90’s sometimes you are better off with the CD to get the best sound.
