No let people keep collecting hot wheels and leave the quality models to the people that appreciate them and not just want them for the money

You should give Time Micro another review video, they have a couple of recent releases that have some details that other brands lack. Especially their R34 and LBWK S15 with the opening hood, which I think has the most detailed engine bay on a 1/64 scale car. The R34 isn't licensed and there are some QC issues, but overall the quality is very impressive. The S15 LBWK, surprisingly, is licensed.

i feel like if im paying alot of $$$ (especially if the model is 1/18) opening compartments should be a must. i dont see why 1/18s should be sealed. their already big in size, and i paid alot of $$$ for them, so at least make them openable.
@kenniboii192
@kenniboii192 4 ай бұрын
My biggest issue with the whole sealed resin things is that they're usually absurdly expensive. Yes theres brands like GT Spirit which has kind of become the Maisto/BBurago of that world with most of their cars being priced the same at around $140 and having solid details for that price, but when A LOT of the big resin brands are asking like $500 it's goofy. Why would I pay that much for a sealed car when I can get the same cars in some cases from other brands that are full open for almost half the price? And it seems like companies have noticed that and have now just said "hey we've gotten away with it for this long so let's keep doing it and charging these lame prices". I mean look at how many new brands pop up now that are sealed resin or even brands like Minichamps and Norev that are releasing more and more of their new models sealed and still charging the same prices or more.
@modelcarshouston

You cannot compare a resin with a diecast those are two completely different markets. You have to compare resins with resins. The reason why some resin are higher priced is because of their presentation base, acrylic case and the type of make and model being offered. The last big part is the attention to detail versus something like a GT Spirit and ultimately the release quantities.
@kenniboii192
@kenniboii192 4 ай бұрын
@@modelcarshouston I mean I'm not really sure why they're different markets and can't be compared in that respect. I get some people obviously dont mind having a sealed car while others like myself prefer full open or even just a hood or just doors like Solido or Autoworld, but that still doesn't justify the prices for alot of recent resin stuff. I mean let's compare BBR's full open 1:18 F12 TDF with their resin 1:18 812 which are pretty close to the same car but on BBR's website, the 812's are listed at $499 while the F12's are $469. Not only is resin easier to work with and requires less work with toolings and such, but also if its sealed you dont need any tiny hinges and screws that come with all those things, no extra molds for engines and bays, rubber hoses and other fine details that come with that, possible hydraulic pistons for trunks and things, theres just less parts you need to create on top of an already cheaper method of making that model. For sure some of the really fancy carbon bases and high quality stitched leather would add some cost back but that full open F12 comes on a similar stitched leather base as the 812 so that cant even be a point in this case. The only time I can understand some of the higher prices is for things like modded cars, widebody, custom bodykits, wheels, etc. where you also have to pay for all the different licenses for said parts and most of those types of cars usually come from sealed brands and when you do see full open versions they're also pretty high in price which is understandable. I just think the idea that material makes that much of a difference in price isn't applicable versus something like watches where one being steel and another being gold would have an obvious markup in price for a real reason.

I can't get into resin for that fact that 99% don't roll. I'm not saying that I'm gonna take said car and put it on track and see it go, but its nice to sit at my desk every now and again, and give it a little push and see it roll, for example, I like knowing I can take my Kaido House R34 push it and know that it'll roll. As for the hot wheels topic, premiums, boulevards, and some RLC are the way to go with that, the main lines are good to custom.

The problem with these resin models especially ignition model ones is that they are super expensive and there’s no demand for them. I have a 1/18 scale pandem GTR35 that I’ve been trying to sell for about 3 years even at a low cost of $150 and not even 1 offer was asked! So imagine paying $400 and losing a lot of $ cuz the demand just isn’t there. Eventually you will get tired of some cars in your collection so you want to sell old ones to make room for new models. As for Hotwheels you know you can always get your $$ back if not more sometimes. That’s why there is such a large community and demand for em and yes I collect all tarmac/miniGT/inno64 as well cuz it’s not crazy expensive.

@dru106
@dru106 4 ай бұрын
@@modelcarshouston of course no one should be collecting because of resale value but I think the price for Ignition model is just waay too expensive with no opening parts and this is why there aren’t that many ppl that collect these models. There are a few OG AutoArt diecast that has become super rare that a lot of ppl want but don’t have. I can’t say the same for Ignition models just my opinion. Yea now I just have a huge paper weight that no one wants that I can’t sell and I don’t want to ship due to the fact that these models are soo fragile I’m afraid that something will break during shipping.

A lot of companies moving toward resin isn't helping the hobby in my eyes. As of this writing, you can't get a reasonably priced Spark Super Formula car in 1/43, as they're all about $100 or more. Minichamps, UT & Ebbro always did things with diecast Formula cars at different price points. Super Formula only does resin now through Spark. It feels like they're doing this just to make sure they rake in as much as they can.

How do you feel about models from M2, Greenlight, Johnny Lightning and AutoWorld? I kinda like them because they make a lot of classic American made cars and trucks whereas minigt, inno and ignition model tend to focus more on the foreign made cars which I really like also.

I have 1:18 diecast collection and stop buying them due to rash issues. Majority of my older and valuable models have rashes on them and its really disheartening to see it. I am now starting to like resin models especially GT spirit as they are cheap compared to high end resins and diecast models. Same issue with 1:64s Mini GTs and Tomica. Just concentrating my collection now to Inno64s. Seems to be a quality piece. I havent seen any rashes on them and their older models... so far..

The Hot Wheels snobs are the worst. The guys who think the stuff they buy at Walmart and Target is good. lol. You see them in the Facebook groups. They often get pissed off at me and say they wouldn’t buy a car for 15 bucks, yet they’ll buy 15 kiddie toy cars only to complain about the quality. I really want to do a video about Hot Wheels badly. Then you have Lamely who sits there and acts like every car from every manufacturer is great, but seems to put Hot Wheels at the top. All they have going for them is that they’re cheap and they have the most males and models. I have a 4-year-old, and I buy him Hot Wheels and MBX. That’s what they’re made for. Sure, people say that people Like me should leave Hot Wheels fanatics alone. No. Not when they have no taste in this stuff. They’re busy complaining about crooked tampo’s and super thick paint jobs filling in detail. There’s a solution to that, and it’s called go buy a Tarmac or a TLV or Mini GT if they want to stick to 1:64. They always get interested in my pics of stuff and want what I have, but they don’t like mail order (stupid), don’t like eBay, don’t like the prices. Well, then play with your little Walmart cars and stop complaining. The only thing I like them for is making the occasional customs.
