I bought a 100 watt yuma after this video and holy smokes they totally outperform! Getting 100 watts continous and at times 115 watts peak in the April sun! This was after being aimed at the sun every 30 mins or so and about 90 watts laying flat!! All of that from a 100 watt panel.. the video will be coming soon! So far yumas have been best bang for the buck in terms of overall performance

These are the most robodope fresh solar panels I have ever seen. What would be totally awesome is if they could take their existing panels and camouflage them like actual 3 tab composition roofing shingles, because I would sneak these onto my roof. (I live in a high wind and hail area). Instead of the composite rock grit, it could be semi transparent glass or plastic bits that mimic the texture so that it blends right in with the roofing shingle. Your video got me excited over solar panels. It has like a cool factor to them. I'm totally stoked. Good video, man.

I picked up 4 of the 200w cigs panels. On a perfectly clear blue sky day I laid them on the ground and plugged them into my ecoflow delta pro and they peaked at 760 watts total. That's pretty awesome. Today, with nearly 100 percent high overcast clouds they are still making 300+. I couldn't be happier with them.

Considering using three of the these (the 200 watt version with grommets) on a 8 foot by 8 foot canvas that we use as a boom tent on our 17 foot all electric sailboat. We have 10kWh of battery on the sailboat and a 6kw electric outboard (although we would normally only run it at about 500 watt input for 4+kt speed unless we need to power through current and waves). We want to do the Great Loop with this, so we need something to charge up the battery bank on segments of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers where there are no marinas. Hence my idea of having a very flexible solar "blanket" for our boom tent. The idea here is that when not sailing, or when anchored during the day, we could have this boom tent set up for shade and battery charging. It has to be fairly light, so that mostly rules out glass panels. It needs to be shade tolerant because the mast and stays will cast shadows during the day. It needs to be able to flex quite a bit, because wind and gusts are going to flap the boom tent around some even if we lash it down tight to the gunnels. And finally, it needs to be able to stow in a small area because this is a tiny sailboat on a 6000 mile trip with 2 adults. I think CIGS technology is about the only way to achieve most of this, and I have narrowed it down to the BougeRV Yuma, which all three could roll up into a ~ 1 foot diameter by 30 inch long cylinder which I could stuff in a sack and put in the locker OR the SunFlare Xplor 180 watt panels which don't roll up but are of higher quality construction (and about 50% more money). Before plopping down $1400 on the Yuma, do you think they would hold up to 2 years of off and on use as we do the Great Loop in segments? I have seen some pictures of delamination, even one reviewer who thought the film on the front was removable because it was peeling up when it arrived. I can deal with some delamination but I can't have the whole thing fall apart on me while traveling down the Mississippi with 1 mile long barges coming at me at a relative 15kt speed.

Purchased two of the 200w version. Have a 2024 sprinter 2500 144 cargo van. The roof has ribs, is there anything special I should do when sticking the panels down? Really enjoy your show and never buy stuff before checking to see what you say. Also have two eBikes you recommend, they are great. Thank you

Hobotech, I screwed up and bought this 200W panel thinking it would work with my older Goal Zero solar generators. Wrong! Max voltage input on them all = 22V. I got myself into a pickle. Which generators are compatible with this panel? Pecron E2000LFP? Pecron E1500LFP?

Hey guys, newbie here! I've got three 150 watt solar panels and a 30amp epever charge controller. The controller says max 390w, can I connect the three panels in parallel? If I put three 150w panels in series does that exceed the 390?
@johnschneider931
@johnschneider931 3 ай бұрын
First volts * amps equals watts, so you can have 390 volts at 1amp or 390 amps at 1 volt , or assume your panels are wired so that the cells are around 12 volts. Some are wired for 24 , some 48 volts. Also assume that on a sunny day your panels will at the right angle and facing the sun put out 68 to 75 Watts like mine does. What times 12 equals 75 will give you amps. So 6 amps. So 3 panels will be at most 48 volts wired in seires and wired in parallel 18 amps. It sounds doable assuming average performance. But on absolute crazy sunny days with a tracker and mirrors reflecting in to the panels with like an evaporative cooler you might hit max voltage or amps depending on how cheaply the controller is made.
@johnschneider931
@johnschneider931 3 ай бұрын
Opps my reply assumed 100 watts, yours are 150, so 120w average performance so 10 amps , you're right at the limit. Advice get a bigger controler or only bring out the panel on partly cloudy days.
@MaritimeUnprepared
@MaritimeUnprepared 3 ай бұрын
@@johnschneider931 Thanks for the reply! Today was sunny and I had 2 connected in series, I was seeing 42v at 5a in the peak of the sun. My controller is a mppt, DIY solar Will Prowse says the brand is good "EPEVERS". Each panel says 7.5a so I was thinking 3 in parallel would be within the parameters but I'm just an amateur
