When I was 14 my friend and I on separate occasions were followed walking home from school alone. He used the excuse of asking for directions, which is usually quite common cause our area is a maze of streets. He kept beckoning me over to the car and opened his door and held out a pen and paper to draw him a map, likely an excuse to get me closer so he could grab me so I backed away, he stood and tried to approach me, alarm bells went off so I turned and ran taking a detour home, he followed me until I ducked into a park which has no car access and thankfully lost him. Following day my friend rang me in a panic as she ran from the same guy, this time when she ran he didn't stick around. Fast forward 1 week and a friend of a friend was walking to school when guy jumped her from behind and tried to stuff her into the boot of his car, thankfully 2 joggers and were nearby and heard her scream and scared him off. She suffered only minor injuries. Police finally nabbed the guy later that day and we confirmed it was the same guy, both of us had reported this to police after our incident when we realised we were describing the same guy. They found rope, duct tape, zip ties, black sacks and a shovel in his trunk. The worst part was he got a warning and was let go, attempted kidnapping and assault but he was let go! Sorry for the long story but that video just triggered me, scary situation! My heart goes out to anyone who has to experience this, especially kids. I hope that girl in the video is alright. ❤✌🏻 X

Just a tip, thieves use phones to coordinate, if you catch them, they’ll make up some sort of random BS about oh wrong house or looking for somebody, they’re just trying to verify before committing the crime

4:05 re: gun laws in California Some states in the US require you to flee even if someone breaks into your home otherwise you're on the block for any injury you cause. California does not require you to flee, you can fight back in self defense in your home. However, California also has some of the strictest gun laws, and has de-facto the most gun laws on the book, as well as the habit of prosecutors upcharging when a gun's involved.

California has the "castle doctrine," basically a "stand your ground law" an individual using deadly force to protect his or her property has no duty to retreat. The strict gun laws are basically for automatic weapons of war. Also strict is making sure your gun is secure in a gun locker or safe without bullets in it, away from children.

People can just look up the data on clearance rates. Almost across the board, they are pretty bad. I’m not going to get too into the politics of this here, but at the very least I think people would agree that the system as it is isn’t getting the results we would like in terms of police being able to solve crimes.

Years and Years ago, I was working at my sister's restaurant in very quite town. a town that goes to sleep as soon as it turns dark. As we were closing\cleaning the front door slams open and local 13 year old girl runs in screaming and barely can tell us what is going on. She blurts out that someone in white van tried to take her. Okay I am going to honest, we thought she may have been lying, because it was dark outside and most likely would have been in some sort of trouble with her parents. I mean its quite town of maybe 2K people, and everyone seemed to know everyone else; not at all what you are expecting. We checked the front of the restaurant and looked around and proceeded to call the police. We locked the doors since myself only being 16 and other person I was working with being 18; were not much older and the restaurant stands out like sore thumb being the only building in the area with bright lights still on. I eventually graduated HS a couple years later and moved on with my life only seeing the local girl once in a while during those last 2 years, as her parents became very protective of her. I found out from my sister sometime later that white van in the following town was caught and mostly the same people that tried to abduct that 13 year old girl. Too this day I still can't believe that it almost happen literally a block away from me and never knew anything was happening.

Most people think things will never happen to them. My next door neighbor was out puttering in her front flower bed at 1030am. Burglars accessed her house from the back door and stole all of her electronics and her purse. She had her doors unlocked b/c she was home. We all learned a lesson that day. Now I keep my doors locked all the time--and I live in small town off the beaten track. Daytime burglaries have dramatically increased since 2017 in my county largely d/t people with drug issues. They go get treatment, then go burgle a house before getting on with the day. Who knew?

Funny, police says install several cameras in case of another break in...and after doing that they can't identify the pricks who broke in...Only thing that really helps is having a knife, a sickle, a sword or a gun at you to get them to leave with less limbs.

I’m not sure I buy that some of these folks weren’t located. It wouldn’t be too difficult to find some of these folks, but of course in the scenarios where no crime was actually committed (though the guys were super creepy) the cops probably didn’t really put a lot of resources into finding the guy. Not sure how much research this channel does into the cases.

Locking your door only keeps the dumb thieves out, you can open most doors with a credit card in under 1 min, for the more "secured" doors you can bumping or bump key them open or use an easy to use lock picking tool...if not just break a window or the door.
@mobiusflammel9372
@mobiusflammel9372 Жыл бұрын
@@Kirinketsu_omething like 30% of break-ins are people entering through unlocked doors and windows. Locking your doors and windows helps more than you may think. Thieves are typically looking for quick and easy, the more they have to work for it the more time it takes/the greater the risk is. Doing the bare minimum of locking your stuff doesn’t by any means mean it’s a guarantee you won’t get burgled, but it does reduce the risk.
@Kirinketsu_
@Kirinketsu_ Жыл бұрын
@@mobiusflammel9372 Where does that statistic come from? Are the home owners admitting their doors were unlocked, or did the thieves unlock the door to enter, and what percentage of that is from windows, you can also force open a lot of locked windows by pushing in or pulling out then up.
@Kirinketsu_
@Kirinketsu_ Жыл бұрын
Having a camera doorbell or cameras around with signs saying there are cameras even if they are fake cameras or no cameras would do you better than locking your doors and windows. Also some type of motion alert that indicates someone is at the door that an intruder could hear. If someone wants in your home they will get in, you need to make them turn around before getting to the door.

@@6thsense464 How about a scene like this, I was in a dangerous situation where the was weapon drawn had to drive through traffic stop, and put everyone else and my life at risk. You have every right to be cynical Mike…also just cause you can get a gun doesn’t mean everyone knows how to use it. My sis is a prime example. You always talk as if adrenaline snd nerves don’t come into play. Having a weapon doesn’t guaranteed your safety or life. Of course better to have but if the other person has a gun too; then what? Or you’re over powered anyway cause the person in your home isn’t about self preservation more than harming you? I just realize countries without prolific guns think they solve everything. It entirely depends on where you live, same as any other country. Cities, regions, towns, and even streets vary significantly in that regard. People wind up getting false impressions in part because the news is laser focused on negativety because of the negativity bias in humans, fear and anger draw eyeballs. There absolutely are dangerous places in America, and we have a gun violence problem. But at the same time people have a skewed view of how much and where that danger actually is. Both of these things are true. And it’s mostly because of financial opportunity. Same reason most people move.

I cannot think of a state that does not allow you to own a firearm in your home, and I believe all of them allow you to shoot someone who has broken into your home as long as you are fearing for your safety or the safety of others in the home, even in states where you have the duty to retreat. If you live alone and don't want a gun, sure put yourself at a disadvantage by not owning one, but If you have kids or others in the household who cannot or do not wish to defend themselves physically if they find themselves faced with an intruder, you should put your beliefs aside to provide them with protection to keep them safe.
