The best thing in 6 Nimmt is the choice between taking a small hit (playing your lowest card to probably take fewer points) or risking a bigger hit (by playing a higher card that could complete a row)

This is my favorite feature too. It's so satisfying sneaking in with the 5th card in the row and the person who played one number higher has to take the entire row.

My favorite thing in this game is having a number just 1 higher than a 3 stack row so you KNOW you are safe to play your number but will probably sneak your card so close in there that you'll make someone take the whole row.

I just discovered Board Game Arena a few weeks ago and this game a few days ago. At first, I was kind of lost at how to play but continued playing and learning and once I got the gist of it it’s my favorite game in BGA. What I like the most is the tension that I feel when I am spring through the cards and choosing the card, then waiting to see where it falls and that point where I almost took a row and didn’t, I’m like “yes!” and the feeling when I thought Damn I should of played another card and lose a few points. I also while playing am looking at my opponents points and comparing with my points. I live it cause I’m experiencing a lot of emotions in a short period of time.

Interesting...in the German version I have it is the other way round... you start with zero points and it ends when somebody gets to 66 or higher..and then the person with the lowest score wins.

Same in my copy. But I think BGA implements the game as starting from 66 and going downwards

Yes, the physical game, whether 6 nimmt!, or Category 5, or Slide 5, you do count up to 66, and the lower score wins, but online, whether on BGA or BSW, counting down from 66 makes more sense, as the higher score wins.

To me what's interesting about this is that while it's entirely equivalent to counting up to some fixed number, the fact that you're counting down to zero makes the end point seem non-arbitrary. The same thing arises (but is even more interesting, because it is two sided) in RPGs, where there's a design choice between having ‘wounds’ (where the tokens are visceral) and ‘health points’ (where death seems non-arbitrary).

Like Golf in real life, you try to get the lowest possible score... except I hate Golf and I really enjoy 6 Nimmt :)

I prefer playing this game as a filler so the game ends after the first deck is played though. I feel like, for the simplicity of the game, playing until you either deplete (or reach) 66 points is simply too long. No Thanks is another filler where you want the least points possible and also another one I really like.

Funny pronunciation. Would expect "six takes" instead of "six nimmt". Or just "zɛks nɪmt".
