That's what I like about you Tom. You don't care if a game is old, simple, chaotic or whatever, as long as it is fun to play.

This game has been a fun end-of-the-night game for our group for years. Always fun.

I always smile when I look up a game that I want to see a review for and see it's Tom and Dice Tower doing the review. However, in this one, I feel the approach is very limited. There are, in fact, 3 different ways to play this game, and this seems to focus on just the primary...which is BY FAR not the best representation of this game's potential! I found out about this game by seeing it played on a website called Board Game Arena, and that is where I got hooked on it. There was the regular, the "Tactics" rules and the "Professional", which allows you to put a card down on either side of the ones in the row. IF there is a review out there of 6 Nimmt! TACTICS, I recommend that one much more highly. It is the same game, just a slight variation on the rules that actually makes it more fun, more competitive, and strategic. So for those reading the comments here, and hearing people poo-poo all over the game, or watching the video and seeing what little is really being represented, don't lose interest so easily. It's a GREAT game, and Board Game Arena (not paid to say this but here goes) is a FREE to play website with dozens of games that you can play on your own or with others online in real time or turn-based play.

To be fair, I should review a game by what comes in the box. The way I explained how to play is the ONLY way listed in the rules of the copy I had.

Well, still love it when it's a Dice Tower review and done by Tom, a very friendly and seemingly relateable person. :-)

I fell in love with 6 Nimmt! on BGA so much that I bought the Euro version because it wasn't available over here very readily at the time, had to print English instructions lol.

I first learned this game as "Category 5", and I own my own copy as "Slide 5". This is *ALWAYS* a popular game for our game days because it is so easy to play and learn (although it does need to be demonstrated first, in order to properly teach it). And yes, there is a fairly reliable strategy that can be used, as I tend to do well (1st or 2nd place) in almost every session we play... but luck can be an evil mistress....

Love this game. Always play it at family meetings. There is also a very similar game called "Hornochse" or Bullhead in english.

It's like the game concept in Hearts cardgame, who reach 100 points stops and which player who has the least score wins

I like 6 nimmt! a whole lot, but I think 11 nimmt! is the better game. Thanks for the review.

I like 11 Nimmt! more too, unfortunately it seems difficult to get in US so DT didn't review it at all

People complaining about the randomness are taking the game too seriously. It is a feature of the game design intended to even the playing field. All serious game players probably have one or two games that they're "too good" at -- people who know them don't want to play against them anymore. 6 Nimmt doesn't have this problem and that's what makes it a great party game.

@Dustter I agree that sometimes you get boned by bad luck. Often times there are situations where there is simply nothing you can do. I still believe this to be a feature and not a problem. Regardless I think you are experiencing confirmation bias, and even if you aren't, on a long enough timeline your unluckiness will even out, by mathematical necessity.

@Dustter It definitely happens more when you have more players. The game claims to support 10 players, technically that's true, but with more than 6 or so players the game is almost completely random. So maybe try again with a smaller group. But yeah if you just don't like the game I respect that too.

I do not play randomly, so i just don't play this game :) We have played it a few times as a filler to close a gaming night. And what i hear from people who likes this game "oh, it's so fun!". But what's besides that? There is the game? Trying to outguess and bluff. But every time we played, no matter how strategically i've tried to play, it felt like i would have the same result by just playing random cards. It's just not rewarding enough for the amount of brain activity you put into it. Same problem i have with Citadels. This one is at least short, so i don't hate it that much :D

I played 6 Nimmt for the first time today. To be honest, I didn't enjoy any of the three games I played. Did I lose, of course- big time! You can write that off as sour grapes, but the fact of the matter is that I never once understood why I lost. I understood the mechanics, but there was no rhyme or reason as to why I was taking all of those negative points. Looking back, I can't see any way I could have improved my position. How did this game ever win SDJ?
