Also export tariffs during peak times will be more important in future, ie instead of using fossil fuel powerstations when UK has peak demand

If high user household considering ev etc worth noting you're virtually forced to get a battery after the move to OI. Compared to having no EV etc and on Oct Tracker, the daily rate is way cheaper than OI peak. The sums aren't working out to invest capital in electric at the minute. 😢

8:34 .... never heard of 10 year deals in the consumer space. so both pie in the sky calculations really. engergy demand will change when kids leave home too. all is rough estimate

Nic, your comments on leasehold properties is envisaging or creating problems that don't exist. MOST, not all, houses in say the NW of England where I live that are leasehold, are for 999 years or similar, subject to the payment of a nominal ground rent. There is no involvement of a service charge based management company. None at all.

NW 999 year lease have conditions within them restricting solar panels being fitted at all, some leasehold owners will allow it with a extra payable permission fee am talking from personal struggle with a 999 leasehold with no service fee

5.2 During the first fifteen years of the Term (but not thereafter) not to erect any other building or buildings or make any external additions or alterations thereto including the erection of a satellite dish or apparatus which shall not as to the entirety thereof be in accordance with such plans and elevations as shall have been previously approved by the Lessor or its surveyor and the Lessee shall pay the reasonable fees of the Lessor or its surveyor for the approval of such plans and elevations (not being less than Fifty pounds) Mine believe it or not is relaxed with having a time limit

Does this apply only to new housing estates? How about buying the lease out. I thought there was a push to do that.

Lease buyout is 13050 via informal methods, by governments current enforcement ways comes to £13200 so currently the goverment done next to nothing

I feel like you missed the option of setting up batteries and solar just so you can say "fu*k you" to the utility companies. That alone is worth a financial hit. Additionally the benefit of setting it up when you have the money in anticipation of a time when you won't. Not every purchase must have a direct financial payback. If that were true, no-one would ever buy a new car, a nicer house etc.

The 20% vat reduction certainly helps and most uk houses are going to need a 10kwhr battery or more so that’s still a chunk of change. For the discussion on string panels brs micro inverters check out Solar with Martyna who has proven that theory wrong with real tests and data.

Highly unlikely your see grant’s for solar and batteries it be putting money in wrong area more likely is grants to mean homes hold more heat
