In today’s video, we will reflect on our time spent in Puerto Vallarta and our thoughts on it being a candidate for our future home.
We’ve made a few videos reflecting on specific cities in Mexico and whether we can see ourselves living there. For fairness, we are going to use the same format as we think about whether we’d like to live in Puerto Vallarta by focusing on the following:
0:00 Welcome to Eat Baila Travel
1:51 Size of the city
2:56 Safety
4:26 Climate
5:58 Food
8:33 Health & fitness
9:54 Dance scene

My con is the ocean water ... too murky. I don't think I would want to get in during the rainy season with who knows what floating down the rivers. I really like PV for a few nights - the restaurant scene is very good.

@@EatBailaTravel yes, no one could remember Extravellganza or how to spell it when looking us up. 😆 We were actually in Puerto Escondido about 5 months ago. We had lost a ton of the footage due to a hard drive failure but got it all recovered recently. We’re currently in the states for the holidays but are heading back down to Mexico in less than a week. Would love to meet up when we’re back down. Happy New Year guys! Loving your recent content and wishing you all the best. Saludos amigos!

Great job as usual. All true facts especially the "take a shower" comment if you go during the summer which I avoid. I don't function well in humidity and the heat feels very oppressive. But that's just me. Personally, I would live in Vallarta for all the reasons you mentioned and more if I were to live in Mexico. Did I mention you did a great job?
@EatBailaTravel

Humidity is horrible because it’s harder to escape in mexico. In Chicago it get super humid in summer but it’s cheaper to have access to AC in comparison to mexico. But we do like humid weather more than dry weather because we feel horrible when we feel what dry weather does to our mouths and skin. Thank you amigo for commenting on our video! Saludos desde…. Nice to see you guys dancing! I am an avid social dancer (although not in salsa-bachata, know just the basics of it), and was in 2019 in a hotel in Guayabitos however it seemed complex to go for a social night in the evening to Puerto Vallarta from there, so I passed on it, also hard to predict whether it would be worth the effort and losing the evening on that (in terms of dance level). I guess if you travel with friends and share a taxi it could be more fun and easier. (I will post a couple of vlogs about that trip later in the year on my 2nd channel :)

@@EatBailaTravel I did a few dances before C19 :), Argentine tango for over 18 years and kizomba, zouk, fusion mainly. Also know the basics of salsa & bachata, yet not as much of those (they are played at SBK festivals and socials). You guys probably would be good at any social dance 💃🕺. As far as vlog goes it will be on my tiny new channel * Tatiana * Just About Life * . Maybe you can devote a whole episode to social dancing in Mexico or in particular popular touristic places.

I often wonder how KZfaqrs do it, how they talk to the camera as if they are talking to a person in front of them. Especially KZfaqrs who host by themselves. It has got to be super weird feeling to be out in public and start talking to a camera and there is no feedback. I guess we kind of get used to talking like this when we facetime someone, but with that, there is a back and forth between someone other than just one person. EBT does a great job of really drawing us into what they're doing. I don't know how they do it.
@EatBailaTravel
@EatBailaTravel Жыл бұрын
I have soooo much respect for KZfaqrs who do all this work by themselves! We started out super awkward on camera, doing a million takes until we felt we got it right. If you've seen our earlier videos (like Colombia, Brazil, and Turkey) our confidence levels are much different 😬 it took at least a year of doing this before we felt significantly comfortable on camera, but like anything, it takes practice! For me (Jenny), it was a bit easier because I did a lot of public speaking in college, grad school, and my career in university recruitment where I often spoke to audiences of hundreds of people. Even then, I was used to getting feedback from audience like questions, body language, facial cues.... so talking to the camera was definitely much different! It's been a fun skill to develop though 😉

Great video! I think the humidity would be less than most places on the east coast of Mexico, but you would have even lower humidity on the coast of the Baja peninsula.

great video guys, we love your video style, good mix of fun and lots of useful info. We have been to Puerto V about 8 times, usually in March, but we did come the first week of July a few years ago. The main thing is the humidity. the heat is about 85 to 90 F, but it is STICKY!. Still okay to walk around and do stuff, but you are looking for shade, fans an AC.. When we go in march we are low budget, and often don't have AC - windows and fans are fine. but in summer AC is mucho necisito! Buena suerte!

Hi Dan! Thank you for complimenting our vlog style we really appreciate it. We are slightly concerned with the super sticky weather but we know no place is perfect so it’s all about finding the balance. So far the perfect beach weather for us is Puerto Escondido but we will see. Thank you for commenting and sharing your experience with us. Saludos Dan wish you a Happy New Year!

Vallarta has the best food!! I love it there.. best tacos Al pastor I’ve ever had in Mexico! I was in Baja in November and their tacos didn’t even come close.. I highly recommend Pancho’s Takos and Pepe’s tacos.. 🤩

Panchos Tacos is definitely at the top of the list for Tacos Al Pastor that we have tried in Mexico. The other best tacos Al pastor we have had in Mexico is in Playa del Carmen at "El Fogon de May" but easily those two are the top of the list! Thanks for commenting we wish you the best this new year! Saludos

Very smart to wait until summer to see the weather then. I spent a few months there in the summer and the worst part was when it rained the sewers would overflow in the streets. Pretty gross. But it is a pretty city. I like to hike up to the Mirador Cerro de la Cruz and enjoy the views. Happy New Year to you two!

Oh we can only imagine! When we were there it smelled bad in La Zona Romántica. At first we thought it was only that one day we went but after three weeks we realized it was the poor sewage around the city that caused the smell. You forgot to mention the...wait for it....sunsets! I'm an old hippie gringo who first visited Mexico in 1980. I'll probably be living in a condo in Vallarta within 5 years. Legendary Hollywood director John Huston put the town on the map in the early 60's when he filmed 'Night of the Iguana' there. An affair between Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor blew up the tabloids. It's still a real Mexican town, not just a bunch a mega-resorts where you can't experience the local culture and people.

Ah yes the sunsets are stunning especially during winter. We did hear about that film we have not seen it even Predator was filmed in Vallarta. And yes that’s why we liked Vallarta a lot it still has its authentic Mexican identity. Saludos amigo glad you’re looking forward to moving to mexico! Wish you the best thanks for commenting we loved your insights!

Puerto Vallarta is a resort town on Mexico’s Pacific coast, in Jalisco state. It is known for its beaches, water sports and nightlife scene. Its cobblestone center is home to the ornate Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe church, boutique shops and a range of restaurants and bars.

It's interesting to hear you say the same as I was thinking - I wouldn't have thought of Puerto Vallarta as a candidate for you guys to live as much as a nice "tourist" spot to visit. It's amazing how travel can change one's perceptions, right? Awesome to hear it's so LGBTQ-friendly, too! I (Stephen) was there once, many, many, MANY years ago - before I knew anything about traveling, which is probably why I don't remember a lot of specifics.I did have a great ride in the back of a stranger's pickup truck though and saw a gorgeous little church & other local sites. That was memorable! I love how you guys break down the criteria for each place you visit and consider living. Idunno, it's great to see that PV was more than you anticipated, but I'm gonna predict that it won't be the spot you choose permanently. That's just my hunch. Your adventures along the way, though, are incredible & we're so here for it! ♥️
@EatBailaTravel
@EatBailaTravel 2 жыл бұрын
You have not experienced mexico unless you’ve taken a ride in the back of a pick up truck. How long ago where you there Stephen? I, Kevin, went in 1996 and it was a completely different place in 2021 but it still felt very Mexican and that’s why we enjoyed it. We hope someday we are able to collaborate together I think we would be able to do some cool content together. Great prediction but we just put a down payment on a condo there so… JUST KIDDING! Lol 2022 will be the year we make our decision and we are getting closer and closer

Would it be a culture adjustment trying to live in Mexico and especially in a smaller city like PV considering that you grew up as Americans in a large city like Chicago? We have Mexican relatives who are Mennonites that live in Durango near Nuevo Ideal. They're Mexican citizens who only speak Spanish and said that they would not like to live in Canada or the U.S.
