@@Good_Guitarist Aloha, James! Thanks for the encouragement and interest! Well, while I sometimes like to learn how to play others' songs and have been learning some from your channel and Simply Guitar, my mission has always been to be able to play my own songs. I have been writing and singing poetic song lyrics for many years now (I thank Hawaii and Hawaiian music for getting me into a songwriting-first mode), and I finally progressed to starting to find the instrumental accompaniment to the words in the 1st half of 2021. That's really when I started my concerted effort to learn guitar, although I played around with it a little back in the late 90's (one of my worst life mistakes ever was quitting, although I did gain piano ability in the trade....). I think I've done well on finding chords progressions that are in sync with the lyrics and have improved on chord transitions (some like ones involving b7 have been challenging), but I still know that these very promising songs could be made better if I were a better guitarist. So, I keep striving to be one, although I often also wish I had a collaborator, too. I look at the songs as my beautiful children but deserving a better life than I can give them, you could say. ;>? Anyway, on my channel, I have quite a few of the songs I've written and also some lyrics included. I could only hope that you liked some a decent fraction as much as I like your channel!

One of the very best lessons covering strumming patterns that I have seen. Understanding which strumming pattern to use for a song and keeping that rhythm while singing is the most difficult for beginners. A light went on when I watched this video. Thank you very much.

Hey James, been looking for your pentatonic lessons. Question is when the songs in the key of G. 1/4/5. Should you stay in the G pentatonic pattern through the hole song? Not sure how to explain my question. Anyway hope you understand it. 😮

I notice you strum with keep to straight pendulum wrist swing motions while I see many others doing the you know like washing your hands and shaking the water off - will this affect the timing of the beat and good guitar chord sound

Hi James! I have a problem playing a song when there is no drum beat. It has only guitar and piano playing. I can't sync with the track . Is there a way to learn the pulse of a song by body feeling ?

Hello Alice, this is a great question. Yes, there are sure-fire ways to learn an internal rhythm. I do go over this in great detail in my courses, and also if you look through my videos here you will find lots of content around rhythm to which you are welcome to peruse.
