I would like to add that service Canada queues are very long for sin number. If an office opens at 8:30 then be present at 7am if you are anywhere in GTA

As always, your videos are amazing and super helpful! The credit history point scares me the most as you have to start over essentially. Do you have a rough idea on how long it takes to establish a good score? Maybe a year or two after settling?
@LivinginCanada

Thank you! Surprisingly, it doesn't take long with the credit history. If you use your credit card(s) correctly, you can get a great credit score pretty fast. I don't remember exactly, but yes, 1-2 years is a good estimate!

Hi! thanks for your very informative videos...if I may ask, what is the pass card used in Vancouver, BC?

I'm not sure, but I think the transit system in Vancouver, BC is called TransLink and it's just a monthly pass. If anyone living in Vancouver read this, please correct me if I'm wrong, thanks!

First thanks much for such informative video Is presto card worth for one week visit to Ontario? Please advise as I would be travelling a lot for five days at least
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada Жыл бұрын
Presto card is just a card to load money or passes on and use for transport. It doesn't have an expiry date, so yes, you can certainly use it for a week and it's worth it. Hope this helps!

Hi! thanks for the vid, it's very insightful. I'm still confused about the providers tho, is it worth it to buy $60 for an internet provider giving 20gb/month? I am planning to go to canada this august for uni, and seems like finding wifi is pretty hard.
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada 11 ай бұрын
Yes unfortunately internet is pretty expensive here! Try and look for special deals. Or, after you sign up with one provider, you can switch to another. As providers compete with one another sometimes they'll give you special prices just to retain you, or the new one will give you a special offer so you'll switch too them.

Thank you so much for the helpful tips. Shall I open a bank account even if I am doing a soft landing and will stay only for one month? Or shall I postpone opening it until I move permanently to Canada?
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada Жыл бұрын
I'd wait until you permanently move here. It's usually set up within 1-2 days. Also, usually the bank would ask you for documents that you may not have until you move.

I have a friend who wants to come and live here...hes very willing and able to work but it seems very hard to find a job here, from there...would it be better or is it allowed for him to come on a visitor visa and then look for a job and apply for the work one? I know nothing about this and theres lots of info/options but idk which is the best and gives him the best chance of being accepted to become legal.
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada Жыл бұрын
The employer would first ask your friend for his/her work permit, so that wouldn't work. Your friend could perhaps just try to get to Canada through one of the Express Entry streams.
@Koujoung
@Koujoung Жыл бұрын
Is your friend able to finance maybe a diploma or a short degree for himself? One of the best and easiest ways to get a work permit in Canada without existing Canadian work experience is to come as a student first. He can get a post graduate open work permit for 8 months to 3 years depending on the length of his program to find a job and transition into a proper work permit.

Thank you so much. If I'm in Toronto for only a day living near the airport. Then should I get a Presto card or the simple bus ticket?
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada Жыл бұрын
I depends on how many trips you are planning to make. Transfers within a 2-hour window are free. The card itself costs $5, whereas just buying a single fare is $3.2-something... so if you're only making 1-2 trips I would just go with the single fare.
