Never been compared with a container ship before, but probably pretty accurate portrayal of my position through the water.

I've found that for me in my longer sessions like mentioned I gain more fitness with shorter more intense broken sets. That makes my longer swim sets "seem" much easier. This is great info for the beginning Triathlete who doesn't really like to swim and only just gets by so they can get to T1.. :)

I found when I relaxed more and didn't try to power through the water so hard with my strokes I improved out of sight.

Just adding, if I kick just enough to stabilize the body, I can go forever. Kick really hard, like trying to gain speed from it, and I am gassed quickly.

Agree with everything in this video and your number one point, body position, is absolutely key.

Very good video. Oh how I long to swim in a pool where the water is calm. Issues arise in open water that is a little choppy. Breathing can be a little more problematic. I manage but it does slow me down.

Thank you for a great video. Top level. Good drills and very well explained and showed. I done them both yesterday and today in my swim workout. Number 3 is the most difficult one. I used feens to have some help. But I think there are 6 drills if I don’t count wrong 😉. //Marie-Louise

I find that little extra burst exhaling at the end just before I do another breath is good to remove any excess water that's clinging to my face as it comes out of the water also. I like to time it so that I just have a tiny little extra puff as I turn my face out of the water before inhaling.

#GTNCoachesCorner How would you recommend trying to get better at open water swimming when you don’t have easy access to open water? I just did an Olympic tri, and though I can swim the distance in about 27 min in a pool, it took me way longer in open water (42 min!) because of choppy water, trouble seeing buoys, getting kicked in the head a bunch, etc. The only open water swimming opportunities I’ve ever had have been races themselves, so it’s been quite hard to get better at it! Is there anything I can do in a pool setting to prepare better for open water?
