Gaming with integrated graphics is more than possible with decent settings and frame rates these days, but is 60FPS possible? If so, what sort of compromises does it take? I put the new Beelink SER6 Pro 7735HS to the test to find out!

2015's: i9-5960x + GTX 980Ti ? Shouldn't that still be more capable than the AMD r7-6800h, which this is a re-badge of ? Unless you meant 10 years ago, which would be 2013, and that would get you a much lackluster setup (i7-3770k + GTX 780Ti).

Interesting in a special way: Starting from practically 100% CPU-calculated games of the DOS-era, over to seperate 3D-accelerator-cards besides 2D-cards, then 3D-acceleration integrated in the main-graphics-card, and maybe one day back to everything integrated in the CPU again, even for top performance (of course "some" performance is available since a couple of years, increasing as we see here).

Having both CPU and GPU in 1 package is a disadvantage for PC users though.. if you wanted upgrade you would have to buy another 2in1 which will likely cost a lot more and also you won't be able to upgrade GPU at all once the PC is like 4 years old
@SpeedIng80

@@damara2268 I don't think this must be the case. In this potential future scenario CPU and integrated GPU power could be a perfect match, so there might be no reason to upgrade only a certain aspect. But as mentioned - potential and future. @@SpeedIng80 This kind of thing would probably only work in laptops because you can't upgrade anything anyway. On a desktop it's much better for CPU and GPU to be seperate except for having a tiny iGPU in case the dGPU breaks and you need display output.

@@damara2268 It would lead to money saved(that's how cheaper game console revisions work, they consolidate several chips into one, leading to cheaper production costs due to less raw materials needed, usually culminating in a "slim" revision), but from a practical standpoint(having to have a ridiculous amount of different CPUs with different on board GPUs) it'd just lead to even more confusion for the layman just wanting a gaming rig than it is already.

I have been going back and forth on a few of the desktop APUs and even made a few lowball bids on ebay but didnt win anything. Finally I snagged a SER6 Pro, the 6800h with 32g of DDR5 4800mhz ram for just under 400$ shipped. So good!!! Just amazing! My entire steam library is easily playable, I dual booted a few different Steam OS builds and they ran maybe even better on a few games. I can play everything I own at 60 FPS. Some 1080P medium/high, some 1080p low and a few games I run at 720p. But I grew up with the Atari and commodore 64. I honestly dont care if I never colud have anything beyond 720p as long as it plays well. 4k gaming is just wasted on me. For non gaming aplications I just dont see any reason to ever build a full sized pc again. I am moving to Thailand in a year and sold my gaming desktop and have never been happier. I can carry this gaming desktop in my personal shoulder bag or carry about 40 of them in my carry on. It was tjis exact video that made me finally pull the trigger. I have a laptop with the much lower level R5 5625U that due to BIOS limitations can only use 512MB system RAM and still is able to run World of Warships at 1080p and get 60 FPS most of the time. The thing runs about 90C while gaming BTW.

Weird it took this long to match the PS4 in the TMM category (especially since the PS4 itself is just a PC in a fancy box) but I'm glad we got there eventually.

What's TMM? I think plenty of older mini PC's matched the PS4's performance. This one probably surpasses that.

@@mrchico2621 TMM = Tiny, Mini, Micro Coined by ServeTheHome (aka STH), It's a general term for the 1 litre class of compact desktop PCs. The name comes from the fact none of the industry mooks can decide what to call them, so we strung the 3 most common terms together and made an acronym out of it. The next step down to 1/2 litre and below usually gets called a NUC, much to Intel's annoyance (they don't like it because it's brand genericide, and we don't really care lmao). While they might've matched the PS4 in paper spec, the real world performance didn't match up (mostly Microsoft's fault) until these new 7th gen Ryzen chips.

@@KiraSlith Oh I see. I sense a general feeling in these comments sections that the industry makes a point of not focusing on improving igpu's to the point they are somewhere near lower end dedicated hardware....presumably to protect the (currently) lucrative gpu market. You concur with that I assume...?
@KiraSlith

@@mrchico2621 My "opinion" is that it's a way more annyoingly technical problem than that. Even if you managed to solve the littany of trouble that comes with hooking modular GDDR6x up to a socketable CPU and ate the associated costs, you'd run into thermal envelope issues. Even an RX 6500 on the same substrate as any Ryzen 5 would result in a massive combined TDP requiring big, loud, or liquid cooling. Between the added motherboard complexity and thus cost, the more expensive RAM, and the more expensive cooling, the platform won't appeal anymore to the price conscious market that wanted a fast iGPU in the first place.

Those little iGPU machines seems tempting. Never going back to intel myself, after owning a ryzen 7 3700u laptop and playing most of the games I like at respectable fps, maybe in some years I'll buy one of these PCs. Cheers RGiHD!

The Ryzen 7 7735HS is naturally cheaper than what the Ryzen 7 6800H (and especially 6800HS) was, and seeing how it's an HS-part, it may also be undervolted, in order to get better performance and power efficiency and possibly even overclock the iGPU to around 2.5GHz. So you should be even more excited about it - however I'm not sure if they let it be undervoltable this generation. And for better thermals on the CPU it is highly recommended to bring the maximum CPU clock from 4.75 to 4.25GHz using the hidden option in the Control Panel's Power Plan.

@@mrchico2621 It kind of is, but it is likely a different stepping, and due to Moore's law, 6nm chips get cheaper over time, because they do. No longer is it a cutting-edge product, it's just a mid-range part, and the first thing that AMD does with this is decrease the price of the chip to target the said mid-range market.

I love these. This is basically what game console should’ve been. While yes it’s not as powerfull as a ps5 or xbox s/x, it’s still powerfull enough to play modern games with low power usage, it’s not that expensive than a console, and it’s still usable to be a computer I sure wish steam would release the new steam os for the public. Or make a console like these Or heck, release this again with a keyboard like back in the commodore days

Watching this and I wondered what my default settings were for my video card, discovered I had G-Sync off with my FreeSync monitor and have not been using variable refresh rate, just the set max refresh rate that matches my monitor. I didn't know it was off or how it got shut off or even when. Frame limits work a treat I guess. I know they do with reducing lag spikes when the card is being pushed but with V-Sync atleast enabled because it can do just enough more fps to cause screen tearing. Limit to monitors max speed and the card will only work on doing that and nothing more, Something happens that will cause a lag spike will be a smaller lag spike due to having more hardware resources available for it. Ofcourse the lag spike will happen because what caused it exceeds your hardware but it will be smaller and more tolerable and far fewer small ones will happen making the game smoother over all, just not perfect butter smooth. *Edit 10:10 Texture quality does not have an impact on performance until the VRAM is full. Have 32 GB RAM and integrated graphics with 8+ GB reserved for the GPU or just Auto? Then crank that texture quality up to max so the GPU or CPU doesn't have to work on downscaling the textures. Max texture quality uses the actual textures, anything less and the CPU or GPU(depending on game engine) has to downscale them so they take less memory. Rendering them in game takes the same to do an 8k texture as it does a 1k or less texture. Remember texture quality settings is for VRAM rather than FPS.

I really like this mini pc, but it's disappointing that there aren't many mini pc's on the market that include thunderbolt support. I ended up building my own mini pc with off the shelf parts, and it took me nearly a month just to find a mini itx motherboard with thunderbolt support (it's a z590 with TB4). A powerful mini pc is amazing because it's much easier to take with you and use at, say, a friend's house, but adding an egpu is just as great a bonus because the pc can reach its full potential and avoids needing a second gaming pc for home. I don't expect the gaming market to see this or agree with me, but it would be nice to see...
