We got a New Job ! We rebuild a Engine from a 600HP Subaru Impreza WRX STi Hill Climb Car !
With the Videos I give you an insight into my daily work.
My company is an engine manufacturer specializing in the construction of Subaru high-performance boxer engines.
Most of the tools I use are from Würth and the measuring equipment is from Mitutoyo.

Great video. Detonation killed that piston is my guess, which brought up the temperature and melted it. Keep up the awesome videos Andre!

someone didn't secure the piston shaft, shaft came lose, went straight through the piston head. Love this channel! Amazing work!

Detonation hotspot, melted the piston, compression ring stacked, due to thermal expansion. It had to somewhere, so it went into the bore. Leading to more damage, more debris, cut a hole in the piston and by that time the cloud of oil gave away that the engine was kaput...

Great Video! I have successfully swapped out a ej253 for a ej203 in my 2004 Outback. Only got 148,000 miles out of the ej25 before the head gaskets blew. Hopefully the ej20 lasts longer than that. Now I move on to my 2003 Outback with same issue....

Ich habe keinen Plan was so ein Loch in den Kolben reisst, muss noch viel lernen im leben, aber der erste grosse schritt ist bald getan, in 2monaten sollte ich mit der Lehrabschlussprüfung durch sein. Bin auf jeden fall auf die Auflösung gespannt! Lg Reto 🇨🇭 🇰🇪

when you modify the old closed deck ej20g factory block, to fit the #5 thrust bearing crank, do you still use the #3 thrust bearing together with the #5 thrust bearing ? or you put a normal main bearing where the #3 thrust bearing used to sit? amazing videos!!

LSPI (super knock) is what I believe happened to the piston based on the location and shape of damage near the ring

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! detonation in that cylinder blew a hole in the piston. I have one that looks the same haha

@5:50 this is the time to put 2 set of thrust bearing...at no.3 and no.5 crank bearing position... Good for people use super stiff clutch spring...

I have a question. When honing the cylinder in that fancy machine how critical is it to use a torque plate to simulate the clamp load from the head bolts while machining is done? Doesn't the case warp a little bit from that clamp load?

@7:10 is detonation due to running lean and melting the piston...check injector, and probably need bigger fuel rail, bigger fuel line..(with parallel fuel rail conversion as well)

Hey, ich tippe mal auf die Einspritzdüse, hat wohl zu wenig Sprit rein geballert und dadurch ist es zu heiß an der Stelle geworden..kp wär so mein erster Gedanke gewesen 😁 Gruß

Im guessing wrong ring gap for this application. Turbo exhaust housing could be a bit small helping to raise temps in the cylinders.

The piston damged was caused by broken-leaking injector which caused over heating the piston until melting point of alloy

Schönes Video und Hut ab das du alles in Englisch machst. Das sieht nach einem Kampf mit der Wand aus 😉 Ich würde denken zu wenig benzindruck oder einspritzventil nicht mehr richtig funktioniert. Dann zu mager und entweder loch rein gebrannt oder Ventil/kerze abgebrannt und reingefallen?

You don't have this issue on a normal engine because they step the sleeve at the bottom of the block and also on the deck then they mechine it or re deck it. Ive had this done on my FJ20ET engine

Ich denke der Motor hat geklopft also durch Wärme und Kompression selbst gezündet und damit den Kolben überhitzt und anschließend gesprengt.

ショートストロークエンジン。しかし、それにも増してコンロッドが極端にこれだけ短い!!! これではピストンが大変ですよ!!!どれだけの横方向の摩擦力が掛かりピストンが揺す振られするのか想像出来ます。対策としてはオイル潤滑性を活かしピストンを守るす為に、スカートの長さ面責は大切であると思います。、シリンダーブロックの剛性いいですね!振動、強固対策、

Ran out of oil. Simply a lack of service or a complete oil pump failure. Over heated due to coolant anomaly. In both cases heat was the factor where the piston over heated expanded beyond speck tolerance for the bore?

On that piston, it looks it got lean, heated up, butted the rings, and blow torched from too much oxygen. On that EJ25 stroker, the sleeves are probably too short at the bottom as well. At bdc, too much of the skirt probably comes out of the bottom of the sleeve, then, as you said, the rod angle is fairly extreme, so the piston gets "forced" & rocks as it goes back up the cylinder. There's not enough sleeve to support the skirt at the bottom. When you see a piston come out of a stroked engine, w/wear marks on the skirt like that, 99% of the time, the piston is hanging to far out of the bottom of sleeve.

The top ring is bent downward toward the crank. It could be a dropped valve, but I actually think, judging from the score marks on the piston sleeves, that the engine ran very very hot -- likely head gasket failure, lost oil pressure -- causing the score marks on the skirts and heated the combustion chamber even more, and finally, part of the spark plug broke off/melted and caused mechanical damage.

Ring gap failure got hot expanded pinched the innr bore and broke! Happens if you donttear apart your motor and oversize the gap when running meth injection or NOS!
