When they're talking about the recruitment shortfalls there's a lot of veterans, like myself, who got out in the past 20 years and when you're asked about your service you give an honest answer. No one wants to join when they fail to take care of you, treat you with dignity and they need to look in the mirror and make cultural changes from the top down. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Former President Trump used Veterans to get votes and create a false perception. I'm still amazed how many US Vets still vote for that liar. He despises military people while stealing their valor. How is a 5 times draft dodger revered by real heros? It's beyond me. Republicans want to cut benefits - simple fact.

As a veteran I would have like to see the General reflect more on the recent recruiting failures and lack of faith in our military. It is also caused by the total disrespect from the present GOP politicians. And when you look at Camp LeJeune, it is hard to be comfortable with even stateside living facilities. The GOP do not care about the live's of military families. I honestly don't think most men and women are designed to be away for their families for 10-12 years. That toll is too big. We did not want a draft. So those who do no service never even notice that we have been at war for thirty years. And now we have a cult of rule breakers and entitled people mixed in with people who love crazy consiracy theories that have been fed by fox and such. Of course , the same could be about the police. Some people do sacrifice for their country either as a fire fighter , soldier or police officer. Now even doctors and teachers are being disrespected by the GOP, so we have the GOP has totally gone off the rails.

If I was going to join the military, I’d probably join as a nurse (when I get my RN). What would hold me back from joining is we’re not in any large scale wars right now, so it doesn’t feel apparent to me that I need to join, especially when i have more control over pay, location, and hours at home. I believe when the time requires it, the military will have no issue recruiting.

I remember going through NCO school in the Army, and during a lesson on the military's role in the political process, our instructor told us that the US Military is strictly apolitical and impartial to the political process, nonetheless; he also said the US military is the steward of the Constitution and democracy. Although we swore allegiance to the President, our true mandate was to protect and defend the US Constitution and its democratic values. When we asked him to clarify what he meant by "the US Military is the steward of the Constitution and democracy," he paused, thought for a second, and then said, "Let me put it this way: although the US Military has no say in the political process of the country, when we raised our right hand, we swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic, and as leaders, we have to be ready to do what we have to, to uphold that oath"... we all looked at each other knowing fully well what he meant. I'm glad this train of thought goes all the way to the top Military leadership as well.

We went from taking out terrorist to Nation building . Trying to move a 7th century culture into the 21st. We learned nothing from UK and Soviet Union failures in the past. Only Alexander the Great and Genghis Kahn has anything approaching success and we certainly were not going to adopt their methods. We should have just reestablished the monarchy and bribed the warlords and tribal leaders to support it/fight the Talban while limiting our involvement to Special Ops and airpower. But no, we had to go an attempt to nation build.

@quentinpugh1969 I'm no Trump supporter, but I have to agree that the general is objectively a traitor if it is true that he contacted China behind the back of a sitting US President to assure them that he wouldn't follow any command to attack if given. I don't care for Trump. However, as a general, it is your duty to follow the orders of the Commander in Cheif. I would argue he should have been court marshaled and that way there could have been a court case where he could defend himself and his actions. The only reason people don't agree with him being a traitor I'd because they hate Trump. They hate Trump so much that they can't look at stuff objectively. Let me ask you this question, if that same general had done the same thing to Obama, would you consider him a traitor? What if he did it right now to Biden? The general doesn't just get to decide he isn't going to follow orders because he doesn't like the president. If he feels Trump did something unethical then he needs to have brought it to congress where the house could begin the articles of impeachment and the senate gets to vote for removal. If you're going to say "well Republicans wouldn't vote against Trump in the other impeachments" and I will say that is correct. Impeachment is a political process and not a criminal one. If a senator doesn't vote to impeach and the people disagree, that senator gets voted out. That's how this goes. The president is the executive branch. He controls the military and the enforcement arm of the government. As a general, he doesn't get to ignore orders without consequences. At least he shouldn't have. Do you know why? What happens with a republican/conservative general ignores a Democrat president and essentially collides with a foreign enemy? The precedent has been set. People are only okay with it because it confirms their narrative. Nobody can look at things objectively anymore. By the way, I'm not endorsing Trump or the republican party. I'm not saying what Trump did was good or bad. I'm not even saying what the general did was the wrong thing to do. What I'm saying is he went behind the back of the sitting president and essentially collided with a foreign enemy. Again, if what was alleged is true. I honestly haven't followed whether he admitted to any of it or not.

He didn’t advise the President or was deeply involved during the Obama Admin and the drone strike campaign and people aren’t stupid. No matter what MOS u get your body or atleast your knees will be shot after 2 years. The VA sucks and the GI bill is what most people are after. I’m suprised any NCO’s stay in at all and I’d be suprised if there isn’t massive turnover and churn every year from the enlisted. People don’t want to work for a declining institution just for reduced college and two wasted years. Just go to Community College. All my friends have served (1 Marine, 3 Army) and most of my uncles and father has. It’s a dying institution

Consider this, on D-day in 1944 Germany had around 50,000 soldiers defending all of France, with an opposing Allied Force of 160,000 soldiers attacking only Normandy ~ Ukraine has to reconquer an area 20% larger than France, occupied by 200,000 Russian soldiers, with a Ukrainian army of around 200,000 active soldiers... all while also defending a land border 6,992.98 km long, or 80% of the US-Canada border... that's the situation. Slava Ukraini. 💛💙

Exactly! And until Ukraine gets sufficient aircraft to gain some semblance of air superiority, no one should expect Ukrainian land forces to go romping deep into Russian held territory. The Americans would never do that, the Brits would never do that, NATO would never do that. So, quit screwing around and give Ukraine all the military hardware to get this job ASAP. Sun Tzu - ‘Art of War’ Ch.2: Waging War (6) “There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare”. (19) “In war, then, let your great object be victory, not lengthy campaigns”. Ch.3 Attack by Strategem (17:5) “He will win who has military capacity and is not interfered with by the sovereign”.

No president ever serves a day in military, yet the president is commander in chief to lead the army, which seems so wrong. The army should be led by general like him.

I love this guy, no sarcasm! In today's political climate, the simple act of being such an adamantly institutional officer, to the degree of even refusing to respond to calls for his very execution, is something so powerful, dignified, and worthy of deep respect, in my opinion, that I believe it should be unequivocally cherished!

The question now is, where does the US military, the National Guard and the Police stand, when, - not if -, when the Orange Toad starts his second coup attempt, then with his militias, that consist of ex army, ex police, ex National Guard !? When the militias go for local governments first and then to Washington ?! One more thing, to add to Gen. Milley: the USA way of treating their combat veterans at home, forcing them into poverty and homelessness, also contributes a lot to the fact, that subscriptions are low. A potential soldier, that cannot be sure not to end in the gutter after being disabled in combat, won't fill out the forms. Period !

A war fought for control of the world is certainly a "power war" is it not?
@Heeroyui752
@Heeroyui752 9 ай бұрын
Because a war between two or more great powers doesn't have to be hot, but will be equally destructive. Also the term "World War" conjures images of an apocalyptic nature and he doesn't want to use inciting language. But of course if two major powers do go to war, the world will be dragged in regardless.
