Our main focus here at Villa Vybes is the sharing and educating on the joys of listening to music on vinyl records. Often we do so using unique records such as color vinyl and picture discs. However in today's show we will be utilizing a format even more unique and interesting...tiny records from the 1960s. These small discs are called Hip Pocket Records.Though they were only made for a short period of time, the songs released were awesome and the quality is surprisingly good.

Thanks for this compilation. I have clear memories of 8-tracks and 45s from my childhood, but before this I'd never heard of the hip pocket records.

I never heard of hip pocket records. I was probably a little too young to be interested in music. I do remember playing my 45’s on my mom’s high fidelity record player. She had a lot of 78’s. Definitely didn’t want to drop one of those.

Thanks so much, great mix, and these THREE INCH FLEXIDISCS were made using Martian technology? 😅 I like their sound , and I noticed that all these songs are mono (which still sounds full and strong). Now I only mentioned this point to say I might not have noticed the mono sound of It weren't for all the other vinyl records you play in your other videos, your mixer and DAC sound great over my small home theater setup. Peace and love my friends 🤟🤟🤟✌️✌️✌️

Dude. I already left a few comments in zbears sessions as well I admitive been playing through them the last month wish I didn’t live in an apartment building lol or idybe shuffling through sessions 24/7. But these I was but a tyke when I saw hip pocket discs Thanks brother for all of it

I had a few of these. They came with my Philco-Ford record player/radio back in 1968.

That is super cool! Love those late 60s record player / radio combos. Philco-Ford units were on the premium end of the scale for portables.

There used to be records built into cereal boxes. I used to have a Jackson 5ive record I cut out of a cereal box. I think it was ABC

We love J5. We just featured them in the last "Groovin w/ Z-Bear" video. However I didn't know about Nu-Mark using small records for mixing & scratching. Now that takes serious talent! Very cool!

We were fortunate to have purchased a large lot of them affordably on eBay a couple of years ago. They have since gone up in price and scarcity. We have enough Hip Pockets to do a Part 2 which will be coming later this year,. Mahalo for watching!

I actually didn't know that. I saw the titles on screen of your shows. I will check the description sections. I don't know some of the newer stuff.
