One of the reason I stopped watching our main line TV channels (both public and private) is that they are no longer creating content which builds me as an audience and a citizen of the country. It’s so overtly modelled around corporations and not the nation. This episode is so informative, educational, enlightening, and refreshing. Incredible conversation with former SG. I've always admired the passion that Ntate Lehohla has for development, including the development of people. I benefited personally as a young statistician and I watch this podcast in awe of the depth he has in terms of history and understanding the role of statistics in the governance and in the development of nations. It took me days to get through this content as I had to make notes and rewind several times. Thank you David & Ntate Lehohla.

I thought I'd take a quick glance at this and I ended up glued to my tiny cellphone screen to watch and listen to this excellent interview.

I had an opportunity to have a 30 minute conversation with him at the Rand Easter show, I was so star struck I could not even speak properly for the first few minutes. I remember my first time seeing him on TV in the yellow suite on morning live, it subconsciously planted a seed of wanting to be a statistician.

I remember wanting to be like Pali when I was young. We need role models as young men.

The healing only happened now at at 33 years old when I decided to further my education and I discovered that there was nothing wrong with me and that I was good at Maths. I wish more people knew what I know now but much earlier on in their Maths journey.

Ntate Pali Lehohla is a well of knowledge / wisdom and the ANC government should have worked closely with him in developing some of their policies. The only problem is that they were not going to let go of populist ideas for sensible well-informed policies. The contrast between the ANC approach to his stats and how the Chinese reacted to his report(s) shows why we are far from catching up to the rest of the developed world. Great interview!

Let me say fatherlessness leads to the problem of unresolved issues and postponement and it's the same thing in my life. By the way I have a lot to say on this topic but let me end by saying the problem of South Africa is broken families

In South Africa, one major issue is appointing people with no experience to leadership positions. Instead, we should ensure that those seeking leadership roles are experts in their respective fields. It's crucial to have leaders who are knowledgeable and articulate about the subject matter they represent, rather than just being focused on their history as freedom fighters. This approach will lead to more effective and encouraging leadership, as seen in the examples of the old man and Kadima, who have demonstrated expertise and personal growth. Unfortunately, the current political culture tends to prioritize pleasing comrades with little sense, rather than selecting competent individuals who can bring positive change to the country's situation, such as Eskom.

Great conversations I'm impressed Like the Shirts ,There’s immense potential for foreign investment from all over the world, but current policies, including racial biases, property rights issues, and the socialist leanings of the ANC, repel investors. But in my envisioned future, these barriers were torn down. South Africa saw an influx of foreign investment and a rapid decrease in unemployment. The country’s informal economy, especially the vibrant township entrepreneurial scene, showcases our resilience and potential.

A question though if am following correctly here.! It is said that once the dad is added on the birth certificate of a child, their child :- they need to be present for literally everything the child needs to be administered for?

This country has so many broken families, across all races. We lean toward not wanting to bring kids into this bad society, but nature has other plans. So the unwanted kids suffer. How do we promote strong family values? Crime has to be fixed first, or it will continue. Very interesting talk. Thanks for the brain food. :)

Around 70 - 80% of children are fathered by about only 15% of men. Women are having kids with the same men who already have other kids they don't look after. Women too must make better choices in partners. Having children out of wedlock has been normalized, and these are the results.

I just want to congratulate Mashabela on bringing this one. I have an issue on the educational side of the story for the population. Roelf Meyer was on JJ Tabane not so long ago where he fully agreed about the impact of bantu education was the most brutal system apartheid could ever produce which will stay with our society for many many decades to come. Those of us who were lucjky to have parents who were able to take them abroad as the gentleman now we will never understand the impact of that policy that killed millions of black people for ever.. Any other thing could be resolved or forgotten but that education cancer is the most DANGEROUS ONE.
