63 Foot Tilt-Up Wind Turbine Tower Build - Part One- S07E01 (OFF GRID LIVING)

We have lived off-grid in Ontario for 5 years. Off-grid can be challenging. We have decided to add a wind turbine to our off-grid power plant to ease some of the winter strain with the long grey days. We are building a 63 foot tilt up tower to hold out new Istabreeze i2000 Wind Turbine. Follow along as we build the tower from the ground up. Part 1 has us do some site prep, design and build the anchors and pour 2300 lbs of concrete to hold them in place. Finally we get section 1 of 3 of the tower built and erected.
We are Kirk and Jessica. Years ago, we decided that the life we were living was not the life we wanted. Are we against technology? Not at all. We are building our own off-grid (Power Grid) homestead and are starting down the road to producing as much of our own food that we can. We will use technology where we can, but the main goal is to live a life that makes us happy. We are a couple years into the build now and the house is really taking shape. We are also to a point where we can add more animals and live more of a homesteader’s life. Follow along on this journey and see where it leads us.

I used sch 40 for my first tower, and it seems good enough for a 60-foot tower. For my 60-foot tower, I'm using used oil field pipe. It has some holes and blowouts, so I'm not sure how thick it actually is. I'm rewatching these to see if I can prevent any stressors along the way 😂 my tower really needs to be mobile with quick take down all opporated by 1 person, so I need to refine as much as possible 😅

Ours is scheduled 40. It is pretty easy to lower and raise with one person. I have made a few changes since this video but the idea is the same. Also added a wind speed sensor so my automation system can put the brakes on if the winds get to high

@TheForeverHomestead I don't recall if you did 4 guy wires per level but I'm thinking to be able to lift and lower mine by its self I'm going to use 4 guy wires per level. My 3 guy wire set up leans a little hard on the lift and makes me nervous.

@@PrairieStation we have 4 per level. the back ones remove from the base and attach to a gin pole when raise and lower

Solar alone doesn't work for me either. People in the forums adamantly say their systems are a few 100-watt pannels straight to an inverter that powers six 1.5kw electric space heaters 24h a day. 😂

So true. I am sure in the desert Solar alone is great. Not anywhere where the skys are grey for 5 months of the year and snow covers panels.
