@deadboy600 420hp from 5 liters stock so more like 84hp/l. This BBC would need to make about 870hp while meeting emissions standards to do what my 5.0 does stock with its displacement. Given those huge heads I don't see 870hp being that hard to achieve here but doing it while being EPA compliant for a car or light truck is another story.

People have made more comments about beating that lower pulley on. Most engine builders do whats called setting the crank and that is giving it a couple of raps on the end of the crank with a piece of wood and a bfh. I always go back to front in the direction my clutch fork pushes. Beating on the crank with the little rap taps he did will not hurt the thrust bearing nor does it change end play from where it was at to start with.

Mate, really enjoy your show! After 30 years building motors it always surprises me how much lube you use whilst assembling the engine. I design the assembly lines, fixturing and tooling for BMW engine group and must say you use more lubricant on one engine than we do in a week of production. Is this an American thing or personal enjoyment?

Has Power Nation changed networks again? I have not seen an episode in 5 months! The last time I saw them, they were on the Paramount network. Does anyone have any information?

Isn't it true that the piston to wall tolerance is generalized for all regions and temperatures? And that if a car was confined to mild desert or west coast temps that the clearances could be less? Allowing for a tighter ring pack/piston design, of say 1mm, 1mm, 3mm. For a turbo engine with a maxed stroker/rod ratio, and a fully supported oil ring land...With aux. h2o & oil heaters/gauges for good measure. Shouldn't the building tech improve with the times? I'm talking about a custom built engine, for that region.

anyone notice that at the beginning he puts the piston in the cylinder with no rings?
@Disablednoob
@Disablednoob 5 жыл бұрын
Its so he can easily rock it to check what the tallest height it would reach. Hard to do that with the rings on. Only the motor at high RPMs can make the piston potentially rock back and forth with the rings on

Wouldn't a rubber timing belt be more susceptible to stretching in such a high compression high horse power motor?

I would think so, a big inch mud running engine, I would run timing gears.
