Thank you for your attention to detail. Wow. I could build this. You have great patience and a wealth of knowledge.

I still remember many guys in the early 70’s on the street raising the rear of their hoods to let the hot air out. Those rocker panel stripes look like the ones on the Pontiac SD396 Beaumont which was Pontiac’s version of the Chevelle. I owned a 68 Beaumont back in 1974.

Love it, 68 is my favorite Chevelle, can’t wait to see it go down the track. 👍🏻

My 2nd favorite. My first car was the 70. Hard to beat your first love.

Really sounds great. I believe that this is a super reliable combination that would be very repetitive if the heads could be CNC’d. In my opinion, this is the perfect combination for the weekend drag racer for bracket racing. I love the combination of engine parts, taking stock parts and getting the most out of them!

Very nice job can t wait to see the results are the track. That DA of 5000 is gonna be a killer. At my home track here in Nova Scotia Canada the worst I've ever seen on my weather station is a DA of 3700. Every motor is different by my 575hp sbc slows down about .01 for every 200 of elevation but we bracket race here so it doesn't matter how much it slows down as long as it's consistent and run what my weather station predicts
@shitbox74136 жыл бұрын

Nice job! That looks to be a real dependable, durable and street able race car. .I like you kept the stock hood but heck you might as well get one with a small Cowell.
@shitbox74136 жыл бұрын
Kevin McKinney, Notice the stock eliminator designation in the back window? Cowel induction hoods are not allowed in stock, unless factory equipment like an LS6 Chevelle...

How much power loss would occur if you used an air cleaner element and lid? Do you utilize an advance mechanism or keep the timing locked out? Good build nonetheless!

Can I ask why the Street Intake manifold ? and why not just make an 11. 0 motor it would still be gas station friendly meaning it would run fine on 93 Octane right ?

What is the stall on your converter? My cam in my 439 is really close to what you have and the motor makes pretty much the same hp I'm making 661hp 605 torque I talked to a guy at a converter company and he told me I should use a converter that will flash around 4500 because I told him we're my peak torque came in and the horse power. I'm thinking that's a little big my cam comes in around 2700 rpms any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rick 427.

why is the hood jacked up in the back?
@davidkeeton67164 ай бұрын
It let's hot air out of the engine compartment at low speed and it actually let's air in at higher speed, kinda like a cowl induction hood.

How high is the stall on the converter?
@musclebone78755 жыл бұрын
Probably around 4,000+ stall especially with those 4.56 gears
@davidkeeton67164 ай бұрын
@musclebone7875 Gear ratio has nothing to do with stall speed of a converter. Horsepower and torque do. Example, my 408 BBC on pump
@musclebone78753 ай бұрын
@@davidkeeton6716unusually a 4.56 rear geared car needs a high stall converter, but the cam that's in this 496 just requires a 2,500 stall.

@mritalianhillbilly6 жыл бұрын
454Tony1 Grab a crate motor for the same price you will need to rebuild one, minus the labor hours. You can have it built to your specs, cam lifters etc.... plus you now have a fresh motor no mileage but you, for the same price of a rebuild.
@laurencewhiteley.6 жыл бұрын
You will not get a crate motor that will match this, unless you pay big bucks. This man builds them better and for a better price.

Any intake work or tweaks? That seems to help especially with an engine like that, nothing wrong with a 10.50 ET. Around 1973 my older buddy who had a 396/375 Camaro had a buddy with an L-88 and he made a few 11 flat runs and it was worked not a stock cammed L-88
