Me being an engineer, it drives me crazy to watch these videos. There is such a simple solution with cables hanging from the top and boats that are struggling could grab onto that cable with an independent system further up river that could be triggered by pressure and have a winch, pull the boat through and then charge them a small fee to reset the cable. You could have multiple cables to guide the boat and pull it to a safe distance from the dam and would not be very expensive.

The current is strong? Going upriver loaded? No way. If they pay attention, it's easier and more cost effective to go upriver empty and downriver loaded. I know this is a novel concept

yes but that would cind of remove the MAIN point of transporting river sand upstream. 😉 Heavy rainfloods + the streaming river itself dig soil-sand and transports it downstream lowering the landscape over time. by using barges digging up the sand and transporing up the river, and using it to replace and highten the land they slow down the erosion. And maybe stop flood damages.. It might be to costly for a poor country but if i was in charge i would build another simular (DAM) with doors say 1 mile away, so that these boats could pass the dam doors without any ore low current by using timed opening of the doors- sluices on the opposit dam.

Здравствуйте, спасибо за просмотр видео. Ворота открыты для движения лодок примерно от 30 до 60 минут в зависимости от дня. Обычно в день, когда вода соленая, у плотины есть двое открытых ворот, но в тот день у одних ворот возникла проблема, поэтому был открыт только один оставшийся.

Essa areia é retirada de um rio muito grande e usada para encher lagoas, lagos... e fazer alguns outros trabalhos. Could it be possible to make any profit from robbing these boats? Do any of them carry very valuable cargo? Do the boat people carry machine guns? Obviously, I wouldn't bother with a barge full of dirt, but many of these boats must carry other things that would be of value, no?
