Now I know exactly what I’m doing wrong, I’m locking my ankles and knees! Also not transferring the pressure to the back. Thank you so much!

Nice tutorial on loops. There's not a lot of KZfaq videos on this topic, yet loops are a very impressive skating skill. A little over 20 years ago I had good mastery of loops in roller skating, but the technique is a little different on ice. Presently I enjoy the challenge of trying all the loops on ice at California's newest rink, Ice in Paradise in Goleta (hope you two get a chance to visit there sometime if you haven't already). Anyways I'll be looking for the video on back loops. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Edmund! We were in California last year for Sectionals, and really enjoyed it! We're looking forward to coming back whenever skating has us there!! Backward loops coming soon!!

This is awesome...thank you so much for this explanation, when the rink opens this fall, I will try it! When they changed the Novice moves, I didn't think I would ever pass the test because of loops being so difficult. But with your pointers, I feel like I have hope!

This is incredibly helpful. Your explanation is easy to understand. I like how you explain where to press in the skate :) Will give it a go this weekend

I haven't tried loops yet, but I noticed this on some of the other videos too. Since I try always to practice both sides on every element, it feels lopsided to me to see just one side.

Kenya, can you demonstrate on both feet? Seems like you only show us one side - here, the left foot.

Sorry about that, we recorded the four loops (forward inside, backward inside, forward outside, backward outside) all in one go, the feet alternated (forward insides on the left, forward outsides on the right). The technique applies the same for each foot though, are you having trouble on one foot more than the other? If so, what is the pattern like?

Could it be easier for a beginner to learn than twizzles or one foot spin? Awesome content :)

No. First you would learn a one foot spin. That's super basic. Next, would come twizzles. Then loops. You don't need loops until your Novice MIF test.
