69-year-old killed after getting robbed at Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach

A group of suspects led police on a cross-county pursuit after allegedly opening fire and running over a woman at the Fashion Island Mall. Lesley Marin reports.

Husband wasn't physically hurt?!?! He lost his wife to senseless goons, anyone that's experienced sudden tragic loss like that can attest, it's one of the most physically painful things one can go through, so exhausting. Couples at that age, it's sad but after one passes it's not long after that the other does too. That stress takes years off your life.

Everyone visiting from other countries needs to realize that many places in the US aren’t safe. They need to be told this. I’ve seen many foreign people act like they don’t believe it is dangerous and think they can walk around everywhere and not be attacked…but this is not the case in many US cities…..especially those cities that pander to criminals and make excuses for them and won’t hold them accountable and won’t keep them behind bars. There are too many cities like that now and there are bad people/criminals allowed to run free. People from other countries need to be warned and if they still decide to visit they will at least know to be on constant alert. This is horrible….and the city’s leaders and lawmakers and court system don’t really care….all they are going to care about is the criminals who took her life away…they will try to make every excuse in the book for the bad people.

Yes, the woman was a New Zealand tourist. As a kiwi, I’ve always been impressed with American Law Enforcement and want to thank the Newport Beach Officers who apprehended these crims and the support given to her husband. What a great team.
