We've misplaced 6 of our minutes, so enjoy this new 6 Minute Talk! Today we discuss whether or not 6 Creed is just a marketing ploy to sell more rifles, or if there is more to it than that!

If I were to buy a new 6mm, it probably would be the 6mm Creedmoor, but…I have used the 243 in 3 different rifles for some 45 years. I’ve taken coyotes to mule deer with 85 to 95 grain projectiles without a failure out to 435 yards (a long way for me to shoot from field positions). Won’t be changing cartridges soon.

Still waiting for a full-length episode on this. You put out good info and I enjoy the podcasts overall. 243 vs 22-250 vs 6mm creed (best somewhat common "heavy" hitting varmit bolt gun caliber). Aside from that, a 6.5 prc talk would be nice too.
@EC-mc7vg Жыл бұрын
I think both are good cartridges, but I also think ammo availability and selection will be a decider for a lot of people and that certainly favors .243. A 55 or 58 grain varmint bullet traveling at around 3,900 to 4,000 fps from a 24" 243 is hard to beat for coyote hunting, a 95 grainer is great for deer and pretty good on hogs as well. I like the old reliable cartridges, grew up with them, but I certainly don't discount or dismiss the new "modern" cartridges. As they pick up popularity and ammo availability and selection gets better they very well may start to displace some of the rounds that have been around for decades. Thanks for the video. Oh, the timer is really neat.

My main concern with the 6 creed is the fast twist when I pretty much only want to shoot varmint bullets fast. Sounds like the middle weight varmint bullets should be okay though. I do like that it does better in a shorter barrel. A video on your "ultimate" thermal rifle for coyotes would be good. I want my next thermal rifle to be good from 0-350 or so and the goal of no runners with no concern of being fur friendly. Something like a 20 inch 6 creed shooting a mid weight for caliber varmint bullet? Maybe a video on the options and what to look for or consider for getting your first custom rifle built. There's so many options its hard to know where to start. A 6 creed waypoint seems like a good option without going to the custom rifle cost and wait time.

This is what concerns me slightly but I’m ordering a Ruger American 6 creed regardless within the month. I’m hoping to get a good coyote/general varmint load with the 75gr vmax using Varget. If shit hits the fan I guess I’ll bump up to the 87gr vmax but I have a feeling it should be fine

I can see some advantages to a Creedmoor case , longer neck gives more bullet holding security when practicing partial neck length sizing as compared to shorter 243 neck . Sharper shoulder angle helps give more positive head clearance . If you are setting up a minimum spec match chamber then the Creedmoor case is a tad better but for the average shooter a 243 case has more powder room . 6 mm Creedmoor is loaded to higher pressures commercially than the 243 which gives it an advantage on paper but using 243 hand loads take way that advantage . For the average shooter who already owns a 243 and has all the gear for it I would not rush out and buy a 6mm Creedmoor . Also comparing cartridges that are not firing the same projectile is unfair and gives unreliable data .

My first high powered rifle was a .243. My brother has always used a 22-250 for our iowa coyotes but I have always liked the 6mm fkexibility.. My next bolt gun build will be a 6 creed and my next ar build will be a 6arc. I cannot wait.

I love how modern hunters these days are really dialing into accuracy. Back in the 90s we would slay deer with open sights and paper plate accuracy at a hundred yards. Minute of deer was a common phrase. Also people didn’t shoot a thousand rounds of anything other than 22. Nowdays people talk about spending 5 grand in ammo to test their guns. If you have the means than by all means please do but at some point you need to realize that your gun has turned into a Barbie paper hole punch and it’s not putting meat on your family table.

All you guys never do apples to apples comparison. I built a 243 with 1-8" twist shooting a 107 gr. With 4350. Shoots almost exactly same trajectory at 1000 as my buddies 6 Creed. Wind drift is same. I use slightly more powder but shoot a faster bullet

If you handload ammo there is no difference, both can push 105 gn bullets 3100 plus feet a second. If you want match factory ammo the 6 creed is going to be the better choice in the 105 thru 109 gn bullets. For predator hunting running mid wieght bullets 70-80 gn, shooting at 350 yards and closer there's no difference. I don't own either of these to cartridges anymore, but both do the same job

Guys I need you're help, I'm on the fence about a new Whitetail / Coyote rig for where I hunt in KY. I have narrowed it down to .243 win or 6 Creed, the rifle will be "20 barrel suppressed, bolt gun, max distance 400 yards....realistic distance well under 200. Been running 6.5 Creed for the last 4 years with great success....so I would like a little less recoil to spot my hits/misses since I hunt by myself, much appreciated guys.

What we really need is a 6 creed vs 6 arc video!! 🙏
@stetsonspurs46807 ай бұрын
As far as sheer ballistics and performance goes, the 6mm Creedmoor beats the 6mm Arc hands down. Now if you're not running a bolt gun and want a lightweight gasser? then sure the Arc now has its place, because that's where it really shines. For PRS you can load the Creedmoor up or down to match velocities to save barrel life etc. However, you'll never load the Arc up to the velocities the Creedmoor hits with the same weight bullets.

30 degree shoulder being more accurate is a religios belief not a fact. 60,000 peak psi is pushing the same on the back of the bullet while being reformed by the barrel, does not matter whether it came from a 30° shoulder or a 20° shoulder, nor does it matter if that pressure is generated by a 243 Winchester case or a 6mm Creedmoor case. It does not matter that is a Fairy Tail Fairy Dust religious belief that a 30° shoulder is more accurate than a 20° shoulder. The original reason for using a 30° shoulder or a 40° shoulder what's to put more powder in the case to get more velocity not to get more accuracy. Over time it is evolved into a codified religious belief that 30° means more accurate.

243 still stabilizes the small bullets and shoots them fast. But long bullets can be seen better and maybe shoot a little better. But 243 will make most happy. 6Arc is better than them all even if it’s a slower 6creed

my best use case is a 6.5 AR 10 or a 243 AR 15 with a 20 inch barrel AND a suppressor🫠😁. I do not own one or the other. But I did want to talk trash to an ar 10 hater. Like, why? Full disclosure: I do not own any ARs. Am your regular lever bolt traditional typr guy. But have been saving up for my first 308 AR. So like, why? I just watched some videos the other day of dudes shooting super accurate at matches, with ARs? So my understanding and recent learning is that yes, ok, bolt is inherently more accurate. But with todays better bullets, as you yourself specifically state, and with today’s better rifles and chamber and barrels and all that, the accuracy differences, again in today’s day and age, are MUCH more minimal than, say, the 1970s. So why not take your sarcastic statements to us the audience about “better bullets”, and apply it to an AR platform? But nah you won’t. And everything I am typing also means nothing to you because I was honest about not owning an AR10 but really wanting one and saving up for one. And welp, it’s a comments section and at least I was honest as a complete stranger in the internet comments section on a random video that I clicked. Anyway, great explanation between the two, regardless!
