Hello friends! Welcome to my channel One Blessed Mess - welcome to my annual 2023-2024 homeschool curriculum videos! In this video, I'll be sharing what I'm using for my upcoming 6th grader, Elijah!
If you are new here, hi and welcome! I'm Christie, and I just wrapped up my 4th year homeschooling 5 kids (ages 12, 11, 9, 4, and 2!) My husband and I pulled our kids out of public school, moved to our house in the country, and haven't looked back! Im curious how the year is going with all of the LA that you’ve chosen. I feel like it would be so much. I love that tgtb LA is all in one but I’m just not sure on the writing and if it has enough spelling practice. What parts in tgtb LA are you having your child do? Can I ask what routine for them looks like using tgtb, iew, fix it grammar and spelling? Do they do all of them everyday?

Saxon math sounds great. I have 2 kids going into 6th grade this year and it will be my first year homeschooling. Im overwhelmed trying to choose curriculum that will be fun and effective, but also cost effective. Is there a way to buy one answer/teacher booklet with two of the same workbooks? Also did you have any pages missing? An amazon reviewer was upset because thiers had pages missing

You have such a great year lined up! I have a question for you - would Fix It Grammar The Nose Tree be too advanced for my Rising third grader son? I did get Gentle Grammar level 3 as a backup.

Fix It Grammar The Nose Tree is recommended for grades 3-5 and teaches all the basic parts of speech, so I think it would be great for a rising third grader!

I love your videos! Do you have a flip through video of structure and style level 1A? I’m using iew nose tree and I’m very interested in the structure and style. I would love your opinion on it in more depth!

I do have a few videos on my channel about Structure and Style but not a dedicated flip through. There are tons of flip throughs on KZfaq from other homeschooling mamas though! 🥰

Hi! I’m a 10 year old grade 5, and I want to convince my mum to homeschool me. She is a full time worker, and she says it’s too expensive. In my opinion, school isn’t the right thing for me. She doesn’t particularly understand my feelings about school as much as I do. Could you make a quick video on how to convince your mum to homeschool me? That would be wonderful.

I’m curious how you juggle all the curriculum. Separate days or short lessons ? Do you finish all the curriculum by the end of year ? Love your curriculum choices !

We do our core curriculum/morning work/family units 4 days a week with a Fun Friday to do fun things like art, cooking, etc! We switch off every other day science and history 😊

Hi!! There is a teacher ID template on Canva - I just put my name, name of our homeschool with the year, and a photo of me! :)

Love the picks for this year ❤. Did you know that the next level for IEW is 1B and NOT 2B? You “may” have brought the wrong level for your children.

Thank you for your insight!!! I went off the pathway - since it's their second year of using Structure and Style and they're experienced with it, would it still be 1B or 2B?

@@OneBlessedMess We did 1A and decide to go with 2A in January. For the same reasons. Good thing you shared your curriculum or next year would have been really confusing. IEW really should reverse the labeling to A1and B1! And you just unwrapped it on video 😂.

What does TGTB LA provide that your other sources do not? You have seperate writing, spelling, grammar, handwriting and literature.

It gives my kids the extra grammar support they need! If it ever gets too overwhelming in the future, we may drop it. Until then, it's working for us!

I’m confused on the numbers. What does the 7/6 or 5/4 mean. It looks like it would be the grade but the numbers are reversed. Like Saxon math. Your sons in6th grade too but the book is 7/6? I’m in the process of starting my homeschool for the first time. I have a 6th grader that just started public school but I want to pull him out ASAP. I want to make sure I have everything covered first though. This is all new to me. I’m so happy I found this video!! ❤ I’ve got to watch more of yours!

Hi there!!! Thank you so much for being here. The second number usually corresponds to "grade level" and the top # is for kids who may need to take a slower pace. For example, last year my 6th grader and 5th grader did 6/5 😊

@@OneBlessedMess another question your boy is in 6th grade. I was looking up Fix It! Grammar. You chose Town Mouse & Country Mouse but I noticed that’s level 2 grades 4-5. Should I buy Robin Hood level 3 for grades 6-8?
