Ugh! I am in the same place. We use EIW and a separate spelling along with TGTB. Last year I crossed so much out and this year I am not sure what to do. I love some the art and geography in level 5 but I just don't know if it is worth the extra work. I just feel like we would be missing out on something if we cut TGTB.

Why add TGAB with it? Could IEW be used as a standalone Language Arts curriculum if you added on Fix It Grammar and All About Spelling?

I have a free Pre-K complete curriculum with video lessons for a full year on my channel. Look under the Playlist A to Z. I hope it’s a blessing!

Im also going to use good and beautiful this coming year for 4th grade and eliminate the writing portion to use EIW or IEW, still deciding on that. Thank you for the video. Do you have a flip through video for IEW? We also love Nicole the math lady. And also trying Saxon math for my son too, if he doesn’t like it we will go back to good and beautiful 😊

I've homeschooled over 24 years and my son is 11th grade this year and we have used fix it grammar since 2018 and he loves it and I've learned so much myself. Its the best in my book. Kids change and grow and sometimes you need to change curriculum. We also used the themed writing in IEW but yes, you get all you need from FIG way more than traditional. My son has been a bjU kid for years and now this year we are moving into tGAB for highschool language while still doing FIXITGR and masterbooks chemistry, but he loves demme learning mathusee, it just works best for him. I always show him what we are considering and if he says no way, I know its not for him. Now having said that, the fix it grammar was my decision years ago and he loves it. Having style and structure I wish I had started earlier but its amazing for learning how to write papers without stress. So if you can do this early, I would. Check out two other moms, Rachel at thehomeschoolplan and Colleen at SimplejoyFilledLiving. they are amazing with informational videos on curriculum and their kids. My son is attached to FIG but with good reason but we are still adding TGAB HS2 and he's excited. I hope this helps! you're doing great mama!

Do you still like Denison math?

Late to the party, but I’m not like super in TgATB, not even religious, but there’s something about it I’ve enjoyed. The format is easy to follow and it is advanced in my opinion with what it teaches. We stopped for my daughter’s 6th grade as I didn’t love the literature choices. We took 6th grade as a review year. We’ve done Beowulf, fix it grammar, phonetic zoo and IEW SS. We’ve enjoyed it, but there’s still that tug of is this advanced enough. It’s been a lesson in letting go.

We love Farmer Boy! It it also one of the most convicting books I’ve ever read on how lazy I am compared to Almanzo’s mother. We did the first Penderwicks together and then my kids listened to the others on audio books. My son has learned Latin and about Tolstoy just from those books.

It doesn't look like you've updated what you've decided to go with for Language Arts! I'm in the same boat! I love the good and the beautiful for my younger kids, but we've been using IEW for my grades 4-6 and I'm just not sure what the best option for grammar/spelling/novel studies to go with it is! Did you come to any conclusions?? Would love an update!

It was like this for the K language arts for us. We had to go back to practicing blending through games and practicing letter sounds again. We just started it back up again and will eventually finish it sometime in the 1st grade year. I feel it’s a grade above what they say.

Im curious how the year is going with all of the LA that you’ve chosen. I feel like it would be so much. I love that tgtb LA is all in one but I’m just not sure on the writing and if it has enough spelling practice. What parts in tgtb LA are you having your child do? Can I ask what routine for them looks like using tgtb, iew, fix it grammar and spelling? Do they do all of them everyday?

I am going to be 65 this year, with a three year old granddaughter to help homeschool.. LOL .... I homeschooled my sons half their school life... Things are so much better these days as far as support and resources we didn't have then. I am looking at Simply Charlotte Mason, TGAB, and IEW ... but she is only about to turn 3.. I am researching early..Just praying I live long enough to do this... But, there is nothing more I would love to do. Watching as many vids as I can... and all the more options make it more difficult.. Maybe give something else a try if you feel led. You can always go back.

Saxon math sounds great. I have 2 kids going into 6th grade this year and it will be my first year homeschooling. Im overwhelmed trying to choose curriculum that will be fun and effective, but also cost effective. Is there a way to buy one answer/teacher booklet with two of the same workbooks? Also did you have any pages missing? An amazon reviewer was upset because thiers had pages missing

YOUR CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE MORE TIME TO PLAY !! YOU LOOK TOO STERN TO ME, I HOPE THAT NEITHER YOU NOR YOUR HUSBAND EVER HIT THEN, BUT I FEAR YOU DO !!! I WISH IT NEVER HAPPENED AT ALL, FOR SURE NEVER TO THE ELDEST ONE, YOU ARE NICE , BUT WITH STEELY EYES AND I REPEAT - DO NOT HIT THEM, EITHER OF YOU ! YOU WONT TAKE IT UP TO HEAVEN, THATS FOR SURE ! BE MORE PATIENT AND UNDERSTANDING, THEY DONT HAVE TO TOE THE LINE AND SHOW UNCOMMENSURABLE RESPECT ALL THE TIME ! AND DO GIVE THEM MORE PLAYTIME, ALSO THE YOUNGER ONES, LET THEM PLAY MORE! ALSO ITS VERY UNFAIR WHEN YOU MENTIONED EXTRA CURRICULUM !! THEY STUDY FAR TOO MUCH, GIVE THEM A BREATHER, AND BE MORE PATIENT AND AFFECTIONATE WITH THEM, AND ITS UNFAIR, VERY VERY UNFAIR TO COERCE YOUR KIDS TO HAVE EXTRA CURRICULUM, YOU ARE RUINING THEIR CHILDHOOD AND TEENAGEHOOD, AND THE TWO YOUNGEST ONES SHOULD HAVE MORE PLAYTIME, BUT YIU SENT THEM UPSTAIRS TO TIDY UP, NOT TO PLAY, SHAME ON YOU !!!!!
