Got this rifle 3 years ago I have taken 4 deer and 3 coyotes with it and I absolutely love this gun 154gr sp Tula ammo. It loves steel case and surplus ammo

Conway, If you took that rifle, and bench rest tested it against a 3000 dollar rifle , you would only see about a quarter inch , or slightly more difference in accuracy. Sure, the bolt isn't as glass smooth as a Tikka, and the Trigger isn't as nice, but in the real world of just hunting , that all goes out the Window . Most of us could lesson from just that.

Love your videos. Can’t wait for my Ruger 7,62x39’s firearm license to be approved! We have crazy gun laws here in South Africa. Purchased and applied for my rifle’s license in the beginning of November 2022 and my application status was today 12 April 2023 on 92 working days, and still not approved! Haven’t even been able to test fire it! You are so fortunate in the US. Keep on fighting this “gun control”. We here in South Africa have a very difficult challenge to be able to legally possess a firearm, and we have one of the HIGHEST VIOLENT CRIME RATES IN THE WORLD! Have the same rifle . Have had it since they first produced the caliber . It's started out as a gun just to plink with because ammo was cheap. Ended up being my go to hunting rifle. Absolutely love it. I have a hawke scope on mine. 3-12x56 with a 30mm tube. Have taken probably 10/15 deer with it and my 7 year old took his first with it this past season!

@@riverrat7318 As per Hornady's ballistic charts: 7.62x39mm 123gr SST Hornady BLACK (the best performing 7.62x39mm you can buy) Muzzle velocity: 2350 Muzzle energy: 1508 300 yard velocity: 1502 300 yard energy: 616 300 hard drop: -14.8" 30-30: 150grn RN Interlock American Whitetail (this is a FLAT NOSE hunting round with horrible ballistics) Muzzle velocity: 2390fps Muzzle energy: 1902 300 yard velocity: 1276 300 yard energy: 542 300 yard drop: -29.6 So, yeah, if you put the best performing 7.62x39 round you can buy against a flat nose .30-30, 7.62x39 does better at 300 yards; but at the muzzle and within 100 yards, 30-30 kills it. Now, if we take the best .30-30 you can buy; Hornady 160gr FTX Leverevolution: Muzzle velocity: 2400 Muzzle energy: 2046 300 yard velocity: 1699 300 yard energy: 1025 300 yard drop: 12.1 So, to reiterate.. yeah, the absolute best 7.62x39 round on the market can hang with one of the worst flat nose .30-30 on the market, but the best 30-30 crushes the best 7.62x39, by a massive margin. I didn't cover any round nose .30-30, which is what you're going to be buying 99% of the time, but they also out do 7.62x39.

I've used a 30-30 all my life to take muleys in the brush in Idaho. I used my SKS a couple times, in the exact same conditions, and it performed the same. It's a good brush round. It's not going to get the big guy on the next ridge, but it will bust the brush in close...

Almost the exact same situation as Peter Conway!! I bought one of these about three years ago and it has surprised the absolute mess out of me. I seem to like this rifle more and more every passing year!! Plus it takes mini 30 mags which makes it one of the best scout rifle options on the market, in my opinion!!

My favorite hunting rifle here in south Florida. When I go through my safe before a hunt i always grab this rifle and my silencerco omega 36M, also running an LPVO on it. Great rifle all around! The hornady black SST are tac drivers as well.

Live up in central Florida and bought this rifle for hog hunting. I used to use a Mossberg MVP LR in 5.56 but it was on the heavy side and a real pia when going through the scrub brush and palmetto. Besides with the 556 you had to have a really clear shot. Think the Ruger will work out great.

Took 3 deer on 3 shots over the last two seasons. This is a great rifle on the East Coast for shots inside 125 yards. Accurate, light, and cheap.

I've owned that rifle for a time. I placed a suppressor on it. I took out a doe with a Hornady SST round from about 60 yards......pretty short distance. That exit wound was about the size of a Chips Ahoy cookie. Another time, I took out 2 deer with one shot. They were right beside each other and it went through both of them at 80 yards with the same Hornady SST round. I give it 5 stars

I bought 3 of these in different calibers about 4-5 years ago, one in .223, in .243 and in 7.62x39, I was going to get the .308 instead of the 7.62x39 but I have been happy with all 3 of these rifles. The actions are nice silky smooth by any means but these are some of the most consistent and reliable rifles I have ever had. and my .243 has been a gem, it will fire 3 shot groups into the same damn hole at 100 yards nearly every time. Great dear rifles.

There is a guy on the internet that makes AK magazine conversion for these rifles. They look and preform very well, simple installation. His name is Andres Fueurcastle. He also has the tooling to do the magpul and boyds stocks. It's fairly new business, so he needs support.

I bought a RugerMPR in 350 legend. I used the lower on 7.62 and 6.5 Grendel uppers for a while. Then I bought a couple Mpr lowers from lockedloaded. Love them. They have awesome triggers. In my opinion.

Go to the heavier 147 grain and that group will tighten up even more. The Ruger had a slightly oversized chamber so the heaver bullets shot really well sub one inch at 100. My buddy has one and amd with those 147 grainers he is knocking hogs right and left at 250 yards here in Texas.

November 2023. Have bolt action 7.62x39mm, but made by CZ. I really like it, but I'm a bit old and it's a bit cold for hunting. (When I was in high school I was too dumb to feel cold.) I find TULA ammunition in the 154 grain size is just dandy. Very similar to 30-30 ballistics. By the way, initial shooting (after bore sighting) to sight in: I was taught to fire three rounds carefully without changing sights or hold. Then use geometric center of group fired to adjust sights. Apropos of just being silly, my CZ has a much prettier stock.

Years ago I had an AK47..I thought that a non-communist bloc bolt action would be nice in this caliber. I jumped on one of these right after Ruger came out with them and BOY HOWDY! THIS IS ONE FUN FIREARM! It’s amazing to go to the range with a couple hundred rounds that cost about the same as 22LR and dice some large vegetables and chase it with cheap 2 liters of shook up soda pop. For hunting/serious purposes I reload all that’s brass (thanks to Lee).

I have had the 300BO version for several years. SWFA SS 1x6 glass, Hornady 190gr subs and a Silencerco Omega make for a wicked pig and whitetail killer out to 100+ yards.

When I got mine I shot 160 rounds of Barnaul HP. The bolt cycled a bit rough at first but after 200 rounds, 2nd time out, it smoothed right out. Got it out again this past weekend and still cycles nice and smooth.

Took a doe at 195yds last season using Hornady Black 123gr SST with an ACOG scope. Point of aim was her left ear, point of impact was about one inch under! Amazing accuracy! Love this gun! 🇺🇸👍

My go to deer rifle. Easy to climb with and plenty good for eastern US. I've shot deer from 5-175 yards and drops them everytime. Just wish the finish was nicer on it, very sustainable to surface rusting.

I really love mine. Mine is an older one with the magwell sitting inside the stock of what looks like a classic style stock that uses the rotary magazines. I bought a green stock and was able to dissemble my magwell from the gun and install it on the green. Recently I bought another Ruger American in 5.56 and found a green ruger predator 223 stock to put on it. (I love green and am perfectly happy with the stock that ruger ships with them, just FDE don't make sense for Louisiana forest). I love them both. I'm thinking of buying one in 308. I wanted 6.5 but my girlfriend wants 6.5 that I would like to put in a chassis system like the oryx. Ruger won't sell you the stocks of differnet colors if your rifle didn't come with it. I was told no in email and tried calling. Shame because the ranch rifles look pretty in green.

WTW, if you hunt with it this year try to get some Tula 154 grain soft points for your gun. Great ammo! You won’t be disappointed! My go to hunting rig is my mini thirty and the Tula 154 grain soft points. It’s not as accurate that bolt gun but gets the job done fine.

Great rifle. Ordered one through academy sports about 6 months and I'm absolutely amazed with the accuracy for the price point. Mine is set up with a Vortex Copperhead and a kydex type cheek rest it will easily shoot sub moa groups with the wolf polyformance. One thing I discovered too was it will shoot really tight groups with ammo that my AK won't. Had some belom tactical brass case and the AK would barely shoot less than 2 moa at 50yd. Put the same round in Ruger and was shooting sub MOA. Ruger must have a slightly tighter bore.

got the same rifle...great little shooter. put a HOLOSON red dot on it. got a couple of spam cans back a few years ago before the embargo with mr. Putin. Russian military(30 rounds per stapled paper container). always detect a faint whiff of ammonia "vinegar" in the air at shooting time. I think it stabilizes the powder in the round which allows it to have the shelf life of an MRE!! for a real workout, shoot a couple of 20 round magazines, gets your bolt action as smoooooth as butttah!!

I bought mine when they first came out for $360. Shoots Tula 154 sp, Tiger, Red army standard, and wolf (green box 123 gr HP the best) all sub or moa....with a1x6 or 2.5x12 scope. Shot a nickle at 100 yds. Will shoot moa at 200yds also. Uses Ruger Mini 30 mags. It's a keeper.

I have one and found some 124 gr PPU and some 123 Sellier Berlot both soft point bullets about 2300-2499 fps ammo I have not shot groups with these ammo’s yet but these rifles will shoot regular fmj ammo, both of these ammo’s are about $15 a box of 20 , I have a 2nd bolt action in this caliber Made by Zastava with a nice walnut stock and am on the look out for a CZ in same caliber

Boolots not that cheap anymore! I have the rifle, I am a 7.62 fan, but here in Ga. that ammo is not cheap anymore, just as much as .223. Like your content, keep it up.

I got my 7.62x39 in 2017. I use it on varmints. It's a tack driver. Every bit as accurate as my CZ 527 7.62x39

Under-rated hunting round. Very decent power for such a small cartridge. Have killed several deer with this round and a coyote. Some of the ammo may not be very dependable for simply not going off when you pull the trigger, but surprisingly accurate out of a bolt action, even steel case stuff. Excellent caliber for ladies and kids too for lower muzzle blast and much lighter recoil than even a .243. Carbines with shorter barrels handy to move around in tight spaces. You can also find this in some rifles with longer barrels to up the fps. 16 inch barrel will shoot around 2200 and 20 inch can do 2350 depending on brand of ammo.

Only problem I can see is the bolt is a bit sticky getting the shorter rounds in there

I used a AK47 this year for deer hunting. Used 123g soft points and it did the job. Used to use a 30-06, it's still a 30 cal but faster follow ups....if needed
