I open a case of ammo and the one of the Bulgarian spam cans,
I also open one with a Grinder! • Open Millsurp 7.62x54r...
The ammo is 7.62x54r "Made in Bulgaria in the mid-1980s this ammunition has a lacquered steel case and a copper-coated, alternate core projectile. The ammunition is corrosive and is berdan primed (double flash hole)"
The Wooden Box was treated with 3 coats of boiled linseed oil.
I then Demonstrate how to avoid Rim Lock (Working Interrupter or not).
Check Out My Video On How To Oil Your Box: • Linseed Oil Your Woode...

Ok! Not even a minute in and he attached the latch and hinges with the SCREWS FACING OUTWARD SO YOU CAN JUST UNSCREW THEM AND NOT EVEN BOTHER CUTTING THE LOCK! +10 for the AMAZING camera work!

Some may not have liked the opening of the can but, I loved it. The insight into the issue of "rimlock" was excellent. That lid is going to look awesome on your wall! Thanks for the video, +1 for me.

Been shooting my whole life, did 20 in the Navy, Clip, Mag, Magazine, no one cared until the comment section. Does it matter? In battle could we get mixed up? Not many folks running into battle carrying two systems which are 50 years apart. Good video, the 54r is VERY powerful and the steel core destroys everything. Had some blue tips, those are amazing

Just bought a can of this same stuff (1971 vintage) at the Crossroads of the West gun show in Sacramento yesterday. I'd been looking for over a year without finding one. No gun stores around here have them. I had been to three previous gunshows and they were all sold out, so I got there early yesterday and was able to grab one for 89 bucks! WooHoo! Still couldn't find any 6.5x50mm for my Arisaka type 38 though, that stuff seems to be as rare as hens teeth! Nice vid, thanks for posting!

How I usually open them is by cutting open the two short side and one of the long. Then I just bend the top back. But I guess that doesn't help if you want to keep the top.

great video and info. ya can't beat the looks of the box, the spam cans came in. you did a good job with it. i just got my first mosin the other day, and really need to feed my rifle properly, with plenty of range time thrown in for fun. 880 rounds for $270.00 in aussie dollars seems a bit high priced...but you gotta take what you can, when you can, i suppose. good luck mate. and as always: semper fi, carry on!!

2 spam cans at the Gardnerville, Nv. Wal-Mart, $119.99 each. BTW, the easy way to open one is to go across one end the down each side 4" then peal the lid back. Pull the exposed packs out then stand the can on end and others will slide down to be removed.

@maXim0200 The method I chose to open the my spam cans for accenting my man room and tiki bar on my pool patio was tedius and sometimes a PITA. The problem is the lip height. I used a belt sander to grind down the top of the container first. The can opener is a Swing Away easy crank heavy duty can opener. It will get chewed up alittle but its tough. As I stated it can be tedius so attack the project on a boring Sunday. Thanks

It really depends, the cheaper plinking ammo is under $1 but decent expanding hunting rounds are up to $1.50 - $1.80 a round. My first gun was a no1 mkIII back in Aus years ago, I seem to compare every rifle to that gun, best rifle made during WWII IMO.

Awesome to know then, mine is a 38 Tula factory 91/30...really want to find one with no stock just the action and barrel to build one up...can't bring myself to do anything other than take the steel stock butt off and install a recoil pad (and I kept the steel piece to keep it together). if you dont have the opener you can use vice grips and a screw driver. use the vice grips to bend the lip up and over up and over up and over till you get about 2 inches (cm???) then pry with the screw driver. it has less sharp edges. takes about 15 mins

In Soviet Russia, the box opens you! I got a single tin of 7.62x54r (really crusty too) and it had been sitting in my car all day in august. I drive home A/C on, box gets cool on outside, inside is still nice and toasty. my cousin is helping me open the Tin and he grabs a pack and said, "wow, these are warm". Couldn't resist, I say, "yeah, this is Russian surplus, probably from Chernobyl or something." He gets a haunted look and asks, "really?". I almost pissed myself laughing.
