I had an idea for a "Will it Bow" episode. What if you took a bunch of plastic bottles and then melted them down. After melting them put the molten plastic into a mold and let it cool. Cut and Sand the plastic then glue to some type of hard wood to make a bow. I thought it would be cool to see if this idea works because you could add all kinds of cool designs into the molten plastic with different colors. Also if you wanted to you could add some small led lights into the mold before pouring the plastic into it for bow fishing or if you stay out to late and don't have a flashlight. Would have to implement a battery pack with a button or switch into the handle piece of the bow for that idea to work. Hope you like this idea, please let me know!

Love the idea... He could also try a resin, the stuff they poor for molds. That'd be cool!
@ezraserdynski317
@ezraserdynski317 3 жыл бұрын
@@diy-hyrum9842 True, however resin is very hard when cured and not really flexible. Most resins break when bent kind of like glass. You can only bend it so far until it shatters. That's why I said plastic because it's pretty flexible and holds it's shape when released. Also plastic is easier to get a clear finish. You can sand it down and then glaze it with some hot air and bam all good. However resin you would have to sand and keep sanding until you got down to like 4000 grit then you would have to polish it in order to get a clear finish.

couple hacks I had never heard of. Teflon tape to help keep your tips in, I always wax my tag ends in, cutting them shorter just leads to new tags, and I never leave a bow in a hot car for any length of time, strung or un strung and if i do leave the bow in the car I try to burry it under spare jackets and blankets to keep cooler and out of the sun.

I have cut a carbon arrow just using a drop saw, but I have first wrapped it tightly with several layers of masking tape and it has worked perfectly by cutting through the tape

Try Plumber’s tape on the field points to keep them in
@farmfanugan

I do the ratchet strap on my compound but it has nubs on the limbs so i can hook with paracord without fear of slipping. I can press it with full 70lb load but I usually lower the weight for ease and safety
@LeftEyeArcher
@LeftEyeArcher 3 жыл бұрын
Teflon plumbers tape works great for keeping your points from coming off. You just wrap a little bit around the threads and screw it in. Used to use beeswax, but that stuff gets really stiff when it gets cold.

I have a kids bow that I made a sting for out of parachute cord. It works OK, but the draw weight is only 20lb. I butn off my tage ends when I make a string or serving, and will continue to do so. However, I did once leave a bow strung in the back of a car, and both limbs warped. I'll never do that again.

A small diamond blade piper cutter cuts carbon and aluminum arrows extremely well and is very cost effective.

Cutting works only with Aluminum arrows assuming you file until smooth after the cut and did a straight cut no accidental shaving of the arrows side.

I use alittle hot glue on arrowhead threads, and a hacksaw to cut my arrows, you gotta cut around the arrow instead of through and I always sand em a bit with 220 paper. That seems to do the trick.

Grab close to the what it shoots into rotate it slowly to widen the hole your arrow is in then you can get it out but dont force it wider. i have missed the target too and have done the same til i did what i have said here.

yeah... totally agree with not using a hacksaw for trimming Carbon Fiber Arrows... Using a Oxide cut off wheel on a Dremel won't leave any frayed ends and you generally get a straighter cut

Once i had an arrow explode on me from cutting it. I had to walk around with a red purple left arm for 2 weeks bc the cord almost peeled off a chunk of my arm. Do not cut arrows with a hacksaw.

So, I bought a Cajun fish stick on the cheap, to use as a starter bow. (Not for fishing.) It came with a wheel arrow rest. Can I use the wheel rest for regular archery? What can I expect from an accuracy standpoint? Also, it is a 45lb draw. Kinda hard to pull back but I think it might just be from unfamiliarity. Any pointers? Do you have a video that you could refer me to? I have watched a bunch of your videos and they are by far my favorite. Any input would be appreciated.

arrows stuck in wood? i use a knife tip to spread the fibers , top and bottom, right under the point
@mlap
@mlap 3 жыл бұрын
To get an arrow out the wood, jou must hold the arrow as close as possible to the wood, and gentle move around to make the hole bigger. It depends on the wood and how deep the arrow sits if it works. I'ts a good hack if you do it right. ;-)

I keep my SAS Maverick strung after each use, and it sits in my house which is often around 70 degrees F. Is that okay or should I get myself into the habit of unstringing it after each use?
@lucashayes6005
@lucashayes6005 3 жыл бұрын
I would say yes. Just because if you leave it in a corner or something the limbs will start to twist. If you lay it down flat there is a chance that the string tension will weaken the bow limbs.
@awesomereviews1561
@awesomereviews1561 3 жыл бұрын
For paracord bowstring, it depends on what type of bow you use. On a flatbow/longbow it’s not good. But it works pretty well on a horse bow ( Turkish, Hungarian, Mongol, Assyrian types of bows). It’s not as a good as a high quality bow string but with those bows it works just fine.

How about twisted braided fishing lines for bow strings?
@carlstrand927
@carlstrand927 3 жыл бұрын
In my experience it works freaking awesome and is all I use but you have to use the multi filament braided line in 40+ lb test and as your base string build I've always used the endless loop bowstring built on a jig and then served in both ends and served at the nock with a 10 to 20 lb test of the same braided line in a contrasting color it makes for a really cool looking string. And is super rugged and resistant to snags cuts tears and otherwise and abrasion in general. And on a string like this is properly served wax is really just an optional thing it just doesn't necessarily need it to stay together. It does however tend to keep your string from becoming Tangled with itself when your bow is not strung.

Don't shoot arrows with damaged fletchings if the fletching comes off or changes shape too much it will drastically change the trajectory of the arrow and you could put an arrow in the top of your neighbors house 150 yards away...........

I have no idea how much that is, but i like the "Ragim Impala" as a beginners bow, its relatively cheap and its a takdown bow, the limbs come from 20 to 60 pound drawweight in 5lbs steps, so you can start with a light weight to practise and step it up by later buying heavier limbs. But i guess it mostly depends on what kind of bow you are interested in, there are so many different kinds: reflex, deflex, long, short, blanc or hightech compound... ;D
