I totally agree with you about the MP restoring items. Why are they so expensive? 800G for a Strong Coffee that only restores 30 MP? They are so expensive that the only time I use magic is in boss battles.

At some points you can recover most of the mp used from battles.. buy you need to get those upgrades from the merit rewards... anyway get those merit rewards as soon as you can.. dun bother to save any until you unlock the 3rd row.. because you need to complete the entire row before the next row is unlocked... and I didn't know until I was quite late in the game (after getting tengri).. and keep wondering why it never unlock... then google about it and found out about it...

I didn’t seem to notice the issues you mentioned when I played this on the PS3, maybe because I would happily run around grinding I didn’t notice the problems with equipping my companions or even money issues. I also loved the battle system but that does seem to set me apart. I never completed the game though; I repeatedly died at the final boss with her being down to the last few percent in her final manifestation. I found it a long fight and having to do it repeatedly sapped my will to live so accepted defeat and went on you tube to see the kill. I loved the game but haven’t carried that through to Ni No Kuni 2 where I have walked away about a quarter of the way through the game because it never seemed to grip me as much (and I missed drippy intensely).

What level were you when you faced the queen and what were your tactics? If you were level 85 with level 80 familiars and used oliver to sort of do most of the damage/healing Then you'd be fine She takes a lot of AoE and battle management You basically need full control encounter strategies and have to have some of the perks like jack the giant killer She isn't even the hardest battle either I'm sad to see that you hadn't gotten to the others

I do not recognize the trouble with money or the battle system. Sounds like you rushed the game tbh. With the ‘tactics’ option you can be very efficient in battles and if you complete the errands and bounty hunts when they’re available money, items and equipment shouldn’t be an issue either.

So grinding & doing all the side quests solves the issues. Though to be fair grinding solves the issues in 99% of RPGs & MMOs. But many of us aren't that interested in investing that kind of time now we are adults. Especially when it's repeating the same task over & over.

Hmm... I don't think this reviewer plays a lot of jrpg's. The battle system is clunky on the first few hours but really opens up later on. The economy has been fixed since you can sell the potions given at the start for 4.5k each, and the AI is fine, maybe this reviewer didn't have a good party? Overall it's an amazing game, get it.

I am in love with this game and is an all-time favorite, but indeed the AI companions in this Remaster seem a bit dumb. I don't remember having to micromanage during battles in the PS3 version as the AI companions held their own (sadly, I no longer have the PS3 to test this out), or at least I don't remember pausing mid-battle to check on everyone's HP and MP as much then as I do now

For those curious , the main problems out lined here, mainly be the battle system and lack of funds, is because this game is based on a old jrpg trope that was still strong back then but is kinda growing a bit old now. Required grinding. This game requires you to grind your levels to complete the guild quests for money, as well as random encounter for money. It requires a (Annoyingly so) long grind session normally to get the familiers you want and to raise them up. It requires you to grind ingredients to be thrown into the alchemy pot. It requires more then surface level investiment for a more enjoyable time. As for the battle system the thing about it is, it flows much better when you play it like a old school jrpg like its other systems call back to. Micromanage your party members. You can't control their every action but you can make seen them due just enough to where it feels like you are. Thats why the Ai is kinda dumb. Not only is it dated but due to the systems ability to manage your party and its actions on the fly it requires you to be more attentive and remember you are controlling 3 members each with the ability to switch roles on the fly with their familiar.

I had my first play through on PS3, I dont remember having issues. I'm just now to Hamelin, in my first play through on the remastered Switch version, and my two AI characters are constantly dead after each battle. It could also be that this go-around I am constantly switching familiars in an attempt to get them all fully evolved. The mite was god-mode for me my first play through and this go-round, if i switch to my cat or anything else im getting owned.
@izzyhallusinations
@izzyhallusinations 3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, I never had that issue with my other two characters after I got the all out attack and all out defence thing. If you’re in Hamelin, you’ll have it too. That is the most useful thing in the battle system and as long as you remember to use it when a boss or mob casts a powerful attack. Characters also tend to use healing spells more during all out defence. That feature definitely makes the AI characters much more competent. If you want to level a lot of familiars keep one of your familiars you know can fight pretty much anything you come across (like your mite) and replace every other party member with other familiars you want to level up. These familiars don’t have to be used in battle to get XP. XP is shared between all members equally, it doesn’t matter if they haven’t been on the battlefield.

All I care about is that it's finally on Steam so I don't have to buy a PS3 literally JUST so I can play this game! 50$ is not that much for a game as amazing as this, especially when you realize that an extremely low quality game, Pokemon Sword and Shield, somehow costs 10$ more than this game which was very well-made for its age.

Ugh I’m so disappointed with this game. There’s nothing good about it except for brilliant animations and without them It’s just a painfully average production. Combat feels super tidious and repetitive af, dialogues seem very underwritten. Mana system is plain weird and annoying because it forces you not to use it in case you might need it to perform some out of combat actions (why does lighting up a cauldron which opens the door you need to pass through even take mana ffs?!), so lack of regen feels clunky and unfair. There are countless small issues like that with this game and I’m not sure I can accept it in a ps3 game because we had way better balanced and written classic jrpgs on a god damn psx. Shame
