Journalists can't hurt the segment if the industry just isn't making the bikes. The liter bikes are still around and the sporty nakeds have taken up most of the middle ground left for the hooligan & track oriented set. The manufacturers know what people are actually buying.

The one I want is the Honda. It has eveything I want, 4 cylinders and a 4 cylinder sound, a more upright postion and to me I just prefer Honda styling on the CBR models. I could care less about the extra weight. It's nominal. I like that red and blue Honda paint scheme on the CBR.

i have a CBR650R. I use it as a daily driver and it has been a total blast to ride. So much fun and I love the sound of that inline 4. Those 2 cylinder motors can't give that satisfaction., So far in 13,000 miles, nothing has broken. I follow the Honda maintenance schedule and just put gas in and ride it everywhere.

Thank you for specifying the seat height for each bike. I think it's one of the most important details, since for many bikers, whom are "vertically challenged", seat height is a deal braker / deal maker factor.

I've owned a Ninja650 since 2018 and absolutely love it for my style of riding. Been riding since 1987 ! but between the Aprilia and the Honda, I'm gonna go with the Honda this summer, to park next to the Ninja in the garage. I love the Aprilia and agree with everything you said about it but I've heard horror stories about the service and reliability. Honda products are very reliable, so I'm going with the CBR.

This is a great bike class. I’ve ridden the Honda, Yamaha and Aprilia, but also the Trident and I must say the triple engine is very smooth and feels solid. The Aprilia was a very good steering bike, bit indeed my experience with Piaggio bikes is not that great for reliability. That is a shame, because they are great! Really curious about the Suzuki and Triumph, but right now, I would choose the Triumph!

I agree with the RS660/Tuono660. Hard to 'raise the bar' for competitors, cuz of lower price. Newly minted, it takes everything from the RSVR & only needs heated grips (Hello Oxford!) to make it the perfect track bike & awesome on the street. It punches way above its weight. Weird, but I could've had a Triumph Street Triple 765 RS!!! We are in a revival, where tech, lightweight materials & improved performance is incredibly fast moving.

Cool design, reliable brand, flickable, great 0 to 60 at 3.5 seconds, fuel efficient at about 200 miles per 4 gallon tank range for me. TFT display is great too. Great comparison in a class I love. A fairing for wind protection and looks but comfortable with useable power and affordable. The GSX 8R has 15% more torque that the RS660 which is more useful for everyday riding than revy bhp. And the RS costs 27-32% more where I love, depending on the deals. That is the same as Street Triple R or RS, Z900SE or KTM890. Looks good and all those qualities, but not sure it is worth the money. I also found the standover a little high due to the wider front of the saddle and with short legs was left tip toed. Not what I like riding around an uneven hilly city. The Daytona looks amazing and has enough power. Again the torque is down a on the GSX and the instrument screen/dash board looks terrible in my view. A Triumph blind spot. Same lame dash on the Tiger and Street triple R. The RS has a TFT but looney design with all numbers bar speed too small and the tach un-useable on the go. Someone talk to Triumph, please!

Preference for four cylinders in this category. It would be hard to pick between the Honda CBR650 and Kawasaki ZX4RR. If the ZX4RR isn't too uncomfortable with the racer crouch compared to the CBR650, then it would get the nod. Alternatively (and a lot better value) I could find a lightly used Kawasaki ZX636!

What does it for me really is the size. Im just looking for *an* A2 bike and im 194/6'4. The suzukis (gsx8r and 8s) are both the best fitted for me in the class it seems. But then again the triumph also looks really interesting and like it might fit even though it is smaller. But my point is that almost everything i look at seems cramped and i rarely ever see that talked about as a factor in bike reviews. I get that not everyone is as tall as me, but only being told to get an adventure bike also sucks.

The best middle weight sportbike is still the ZX-6R now that the R6 is gone. Then followed by the updated CBR600RR that is now fitted with IMU. These 2 bikes have not received major updates for ages but they are still the best and most powerful middleweight, and also they are true sportsbike (aggressive riding position, high revving engines).

Those are super sports aka street legal race bikes with the more cramped leaned forward ergonomics and wicked peaky high revving engines, not standard sport bikes. The ZX4RR has more approachable street friendly ergonomics despite having the peaky engine…

Why was the ZX6R not part of the list? If it's the price point or because it's a supersport, the Aprilia shouldn't be here either.
