Gengar’s Sun Pokédex entry states the following: “If you feel a sudden chill, it is evidence of an approaching Gengar. There is no escaping it. Give up.” The games literally tell you that sensing a Gengar means that you will suffer a painful, horrible death shortly after, and that there is no way to prevent it, and that you should just accept your fate and let it consume your soul. I’m pretty sure that’s a tad bit spookier than a koala in a permanent coma.

Many of these are from the newer gens, but let's not forget the classics; such as Drowzee or Hypno: Drowzee (Emerald): "If your nose becomes itchy while you are sleeping, it's a sure sign that a Drowzee is standing above your pillow and trying to eat your dream through your nostrils" Hypno (FireRed): "It carries a pendulum-like device. There once was an incident in which it took away a child it hypnotized"

Yeah Drifloon is pretty creepy, but there are pokedex entries that talk about the fact that it is pretty light so when it tries to grab a child's hand it often gets pulled around instead and runs away if the child plays with it too roughly. The Ultra Moon Dex entry TRIES to make it a little less creepy: "Wandering souls gathered together to form this Pokémon. When trying to make friends with children, Drifloon grabs them by the hand."

*2 Years Later* Yeah, it probably takes a group of them to grab a kid to drag off. Otherwise, some excitable toddler or little kid probably mistakes them for a regular balloon and drags them around. The summarized PokeDex entries don't give a lot of context and the snippet can sound a little misleading, especially with conflicting entries in the past or within both games in a Gen. Just like how they've shown the changed entries in the last video on this. Regardless, even some of the original Blue, Red, Green and Yellow entries were pretty spooky.

Actually, he died in a different episode where he saw it because the rag had been abandoned underwater. For about a minute of in-universe time. Of course, time cuts happened to make the episode fit a certain time and still fit what they wanted to fit in past that point. He didn't intend to see at that part, presumably.

It’s pretty logical that some Pokemon are based on actual objects of real life it’s a references to particular type of Yokai (Japanese ghost/demon) the folklore said that if you leave your well loved object suddenly or treat them badly they grow spirit and became Yokai. It also explain why the franchise got a bit wild in some cute Pokémon descriptions 😂 after all they are pocket monsters.

I love how horrible the Diamond entry for Beautifly is. "It has an aggressive nature. I have a theory. The black nothingness under mimikyus rags could be a banette. They are around the same height and even the black hand that comes out from under it looks like Banettes hand. But that’s not even what I meant about this yet. Since Pikachu is loved by all children and it’s every child’s dream to have a Pikachu to fight alongside them through out their childhoods it wanted to have that same experience, knowing that a kid wouldn’t throw or give away a Pikachu. So maybe it hopes to find a child that loves him as much as Pikachu.

No mention of Gengar? Most of the Pokedex entries for it are about how it loves to trick people by pretending to be their shadow and running past them. But there are a few about how they lurk in your shadow, waiting for their chance to "Steal the life of their target.' And then there's the Sun/moon entries. Hell, it reads like a threatening warning. "It apparently wishes for a traveling companion. Since it was once human itself, it tries to create one by taking the lives of other humans." "Should you feel yourself attacked by a sudden chill, it is evidence of an approaching Gengar. There is no escaping it. Give up." "You can hear tales told all over the world about how Gengar will pay a visit to children who are naughty." "Even your home isn't safe. Gengar will lurk in whatever dark corner of a room it can find and wait for its chance to catch its prey." Yeah. Escalates from 'cheerful prankster' to 'stalking psycho-murdering ghost' in a real short amount of time. ... And this one is my second favorite, right after Snorlax. Huh.

Two years after the release of this video, Mimikyu surpassed Pikachu in popularity. There's something poetic about that. Also, Stufful and Bewear are the best Gen 7 Pokémon, and I will accept no slander of them.
