I remember the first time I faced the night in this game without really knowing what Dying Light was like. Honestly, it was one of the most terrifying experiences in games for me, I think only Alien: Isolation could match it. Edit: much love from Brazil!

For me it was the second night The first one, you're close enough to the tower that its pretty quick and easy. But the second one, I was deep, away from all claimed safehouses. Literally took the whole night trying to get to one, ended up not making it and just barely managed to survive the night I still remember shooting the volatile as it ran at me, but just before it reached me, the sun came up, and I legitimately felt true relief when the volatile started burning and running away

The one that really got to me was the mission “Chasing Past” where you’re following clues from a tape recorder from a kid who ends up becoming mute due to a traumatic experience and his buddy Mike. Mike ends up being a dog and the traumatic experience is the kid goes down to the basement and sees dismembered bodies butchered for cooking and the dog as well. Turns out it was a cannibal that lived in the apartments and while you find this out, the cannibal comes out and attacks you screaming “MEAT, MEAT.” Threw me all off

No hiding , no “evading pursuit” , no nothing , I legit just booked it and ran like hell while screaming internally . The scariest moment when I was doing that was , the realization that the distance to the tower is 400+ meters and when I mini-peaked my mini-map and just saw this tons amounts of Red Triangles coming at my way . Shew, yes, just did that mission in my second playthrough years later and made the mistake of trying to open the door. AGAIN. Damn them for putting a prompt there … they just knew people like myself would look through the window and see what’s happening, but STILL try to open the door because there is a prompt that allows you to try lol. It’s the “no doorknob unturned, no container unlooted” mindset in open world games. It’s one of those “fck around and find out” situations, because if you didn’t know… You can walk on by that door, look in, never attempt to open it … and they will never chase after you, making the return back from the tower much more of a breeze. It’s the details like that which make this game pretty damn great, because there are people that have played this game that didn’t know you could turn the knob and have them chase after you.

I loved the list, but theres a creepy as hell side quest that you probably missed. Idk how the quest starts, but you start hearing tapes of a kid and his detective Mike "his dog", while trying to find both of them. In the end you get to a room with tons of body parts along the dog with an open stomach on a table. I loved that you included the fanzone one, was waiting for it 😅.

On the way to the broadcast tower you go through a tunnel network, my friend and I were playing co-op when we went into that mission. Knowing about the volatile easter egg, we decided to check it out and as we were doing that, we didn't realize that a whole bunch of volatiles had spawned behind us. The screaming microphones, dropping UV lights and general lack of coordination managed to barely get us out of that tunnel. All said, it is one of the memorable moments Dying Light has given us over the past 6 years and continues to even today. He really made #6 sound alot tamer than it was. It's implied the guy still had a small sense of self as he is heard talking when you go down and investigate. As it turns out the volatiles put him in a spot where a ray of sunlight would shine down on him, basically torturing him for hours while the sun was out and in the right position, and he can be heard moaning in pain and saying "it hurts, please make it stop" or something to that effect.

The screamers are probably the scariest part. Was exploring old town my first time playing it and heard a child crying, after what happened the last time early on, where you can rescue a child, I wasnt expecting what happened. Got into the room and it was there. The extreme panic at seeing it, its effects and you how handle it made that whole section of the game horrifying. Stumbling across that was a powerful moment. It left such a large impact, I can still so very clearly see and remember what happened. That and ... two of the things that happen at the end of the base game. Hate horror, but Dying Light is an exception, and well worth at least a try.
@Briarhoes
@Briarhoes 2 жыл бұрын
It's weird to me that they didn't introduce the Screamers sooner considering one of the first few sidequests in Old Town involves one and they're also just on the map there in certain locations before you face one in the main story for the first time - unlike the Bombers and other variants, which are nowhere to be found until you do the main quest where they show up.

Both games have some really creepy and intense moments. From the storyline to the side missions and even stuff you find by just wandering around. I'd say the one that unsettled me the most in the first game, aside from the cannibal in Old Town, was the post office in The Following. As with most places, it looks pretty much abandoned. Until you got to find the Post Master's key. Of all the suicides by hanging that you find in this game, that one actually made me jump a little and just disturbed me.

Well for me. One of the creepiest place I been to within this game is going up on the ladder, exiting the sewers, into this creepy hallway right before heading into old Town. In this creepy hallway, everytime I go into the left room to open up one of the chests, I always hear a creepy sound like someone breaking through a door. When I peek out into the hallway to see where that sound came from, nobody is there. No signs of any doors broken. It just gives me the cold chills but at least I got my weapons. 😳

the side quest in the "daycare" where the children tell about the noises in the basement and u go investigate is a zombie woman locked there who the wife of the guy taking care of the kids was both creepy as like horror movies cliches and our own stories we get in our heads when we are kids and Sad as the man couldn't put his wife out of her misery.

Location 2 gave me the chills, I for sure thought all the corpses were gonna come up and bite me as virals, then you get the creepy message and I Started to sweat a bit. Great atmosphere and tension build up in such a small building

I totally agree with this list and it’s an excellent video:) and another really scary part in the game is the cannibal mission in the old town orphanage.

The one blocked tunnel always gave me goosebumps even though it wasn’t that hard but there was just something about it

3:20 I think it needs to be mentioned that (if I’m not mistaken) this one in particular was saying things like “it burns” which made it even creepier

I remember my first night mission with the airdrop where you had to burn the Antizin. The breathing, the background noises, screaming volatiles and getting a jump scare from biters behind you. After 20 hours of gameplay I just willfully play the game always at night because I can easily massacre volatiles as well as face them head on. Having a high level electric element on my melee turns the chasers into tapdancers and easily blowing their heads off with a shotgun.

I remember that one house but never knew you could activate the thing on that shelf.. honestly never seen the shelf since it was so high up in a little room. But yeah I always okay Dying Light late night usually when I've already had a few drinks and pretty much in the dark in my room.. that whole scene woulda freaked me out. I still jump scare ALL the time playing this game. I have a bunch of DL gaming on my channel. It's like my fav game everr and the main game I play. I can't wait for part 2. Oh and great video again guys.. your one of the only gaming channel I watch on here 🤓😱

Man, I hoofed it that first night...no sneaking in the dark. Ran my ass off and yes, what a rush. This game (and expansion) was a masterpiece. Loved every minute of it.
