I think being “double jointed“ can also make your wrists strain more if you don’t warm up properly. That was the case for me when I was a newer climber.

The flexor and extensor curls don't work very well, imo. The dumbbell sits in the wrong part of the hand, it's too close to the wrist, and the curl causes an uneven load throughout the motion. It's also hard to use a dumbbell heavy enough to strengthen the wrist. You need to brace your arm on a bench, but even that isn't particularly easy. A band works a little better but still has the same problem.

interesting, i found them very useful, however i did do them with my forearm on a bench so weight wasnt an issue

Barbell is the best for those exercises. Even load throughout the movement and a lot more stability on the two hands to isolate
