Unfortunately for people like Allen they make a living off stuff like this in so much there's no way they could afford to come out and admit spreading false doctrine. The portion on assurance of salvation is 100% accurate. In my life as a protestant, which is the vast majority of my life, I had constant fears along the lines of "what if my conversion wasn't genuine?", especially as I sinned. When converting to Catholicism this past winter (confirmed at Easter Vigil), I was often asked "how will you have assurance of your salvation, how will you have peace?". Since crossing the Tiber, I have never felt more assurance of my state with God than following confession. Hearing the words of the priest in persona Christi, "Your sins are forgiven, go in peace" is the assurance I had always been lacking in the protestant world.

This is my same experience converting to orthodoxy, instead of always worrying whether or not I was “truly” saved, the only thing I worry about now is if I have broken God’s heart. A Protestant objection is how we’ve made Christ as a “fearful judge”, but I was never more scared of God than when I was a Protestant. No assurance of true salvation, especially when I sinned and walked away from God. Since finding the truth I am no longer ruled by a fear of Hell or not being truly saved. Once saved always saved is a recipe for paranoia. Knowing that though I fall I have God as my Father welcoming back His prodigal is so much more assuring.

I can relate to this, back when I struggled with Masturbation it felt as if I was somehow never enough, that I was doomed to succumb to my flesh. If It weren't for confession, my scruples would have led to me renouncing the faith entirely. It felt so peaceful, knowing that even after failing uncountable times, that I could always find a guaranteed assurance, even If that state of grace didn't last long. It was as if I had the ability to restart my life again, with a fresh new beginning, every week.

There were four views of the Eucharist in the early church. In his magnum opus, History of the Christian Church, historian Philip Schaff (Philip Schaff, History of the Christian Church, Volume 2, [Hendrickson Publishers, 2010], pp. 241-245; Philip Schaff, History of the Christian Church, Volume 3, [Hendrickson Publishers, 2010], pp. 494-500) documents the four views the early church held in regards to the way in which Christ was associated with the bread and wine. You had the (1) mystical view of Ignatius, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus and Cyril of Jerusalem which said the body and blood of Jesus are mystically in union with the elements leading to a sort of repetition of the incarnation, though no change in substance actually takes place as in later Romanism; (2) the symbolic view of Tertullian, Cyprian, Eusebius, Gregory Nazianzen, Macarius the Elder, Theodoret, Augustine and Gelasius which said the Eucharist symbolizes the body and blood of Jesus and is a commemoration, not Rome’s literalistic transubstantiation; (3) the allegorical or spiritual view of Clement of Alexandria, Origen and Athanasius which said the believer receives the spiritual but not physical blood and life of Jesus at Mass; and (4) the literalistic view of Hilary, Ambrose and Gaudentius which affirmed the bread and wine as being the literal transformed body and blood of Jesus which is basically in line with the modern Roman Catholic system. The Roman view is in the minority, while the symbolic and mystical views seem to be the most primitive and popular.”

@@Justas399 You can also find it in the writings to Emperor Marcus Aurelius regarding the early church and eating of the flesh of Jesus. @@mitchellosmer1293 1. *The Pope* Matt 16:18 "rock" is used as "Caphas" Is a masculine term not a term used to describe an object to mark a location. Peter/Rock/Petros?Cephas 2. *Mary's assumption* Revolution 12 3. *Intercessor* 1 Tim 2 :5 "ONE mediator" *doesn't mean* "ONLY mediator" The Greek word used here is "Heis" which means a few things (primary, first, only, abundantly, them, unity, another & some). Like the salutation "ciao" (means hello/bye) in the Italian language, the context will determine the definition. If 1 Tim 2:5 means "only" then 1 Tim 2:1 would contradict it. It means PRIMARY/ FIRST. Christ is the *Primary* mediator NOT only. We are all called to mediate and we do so when we pray for one another. Mary can pray for you and intercede on your behalf 4. *Mary is sinless* Mary was saved believe it or not. Salvation is not exclusive to the forgiveness of sins actually committed. Jude 24-25 5. *Perpetual virgin* Matt 1:25 The word "until" just says what happened till the time of Christ's birth NOT after. Unlike what our modern usage of the word would imply. Example: 2 Sam 6:23. "Michal the daughter of Saul had no children UNTIL the day of her passing". 6. *The Pope is the head of the church* on earth like the father is the HEAD of the home. 7. *Catholic church* in Antioch under St John a disciple Ignatius was ordained by Paul and appointed "ignatius of Antioch" by Peter at the end of the reign of Evodius. Before going to Rome, he wrote a letter of unity to Christians all around expounding on teachings and in a letter to the smyrnaeans, he referred to Christians as "Catholic assembly" (greek Katholikos/ universal) assembly. 8. *The Saints are alive in heaven* Where does the Bible teach that the mystical body of Christ is limited to earth? 9. *The d3ad* Deuteronomy 34:5, Moses was D3ad. And yet Jesus communicated with him and Elijah about the redemption. 10. *Sunday* the day of worship is the day of the sun. This is after the fulfillment of the mosaic law 11. *Sacrament of reconciliation* God "breathed" twice in the Bible both administering authority through the Holy sprit. He breathed upon the apostles and told the "YOU forgive them of their sins" John 20:23 This DOES NOT mean do not confession to your brethren. Be in communion with the Holy Catholic and Apostolic church. The Church left to us by God 2,000 years ago. It will broaden your understanding of scriptural and Spoken tradition of God which are BOTH the infallible authority of the church, as they can not contradict one another.

I was explaining to my grandmother (non - Catholic) about purgatory. I explained how many Protestant/Evangelical Christians believe struggle with sins or don't have a chance to ask for forgiveness and repent will make it to heaven "smoking" (I was one of those that believed that way before my conversion to a Catholic Christian). This sounds a lot like purgatory and this helped me to accept the belief in purgatory.

Where did Jesus mention purgatory? Is His blood not enough to purify us? Can one buy or pray another out of 'purgatory'? Didn't Jesus pay the full price? Don't we receive full righteousness in our faith in Jesus? 1 Corinthians 1:30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Gal 2:16 KJV Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

as a Lutheran, it annoys me so much when people like Allen Parr make Protestantism out to be low church, non sacramental, and osas. i would rather go to a Catholic church than a Protestant low church because even though i disagree with Catholics on points about justification (which isn't as grave as a difference as people make it out to be) or the treasury of merit, at least Catholics realize the importance of the sacraments and that we must continue in the faith. and Trent saying that "Only God can get me to heaven but you and I can certainly get ourselves to hell." seems very similar to the Lutheran view which would be that we don't preserve ourselves in the faith, God the Holy Spirit does, but we can also still resist God's grace which is a reality we should acknowledge as possible.

I appreciate your thoughts. I agree, there are certainly meaningful differences between us as Catholics and Lutherans, but you are right about this issue. We as Catholics have to be careful not to say "Protestants believe [X]" as if all Protestants are one and the same, but it is also all too common for some Protestants to say "Catholics are wrong because they believe [X]" and not realize that they are actually denying a common or even majority held belief/practice that other Protestants affirm as well.

I told her I was not worshiping my grandma. I just want to honor her memory and talk to her in heaven. After much prayer I decided to convert (took me years) but this was one of the biggest problems I had with Protestantism. The other was sola scriptura and sola fide. Not true!! Not even biblical. Then I found out my professors at seminary lied to me about Martin Luther. They fabricated stories about him. I can go on and on about my experience but I’m just glad I’m Catholic now.

It will greatly hurt him, apparently this is a way Parr is making money. He's not interested in scholarship and theology as it may diminish the number of people giving him money. That's why this kind of preacher is afraid to go out of their echo chamber and confront arguments with other side. He doesn't want Catholic arguments to convince any of his sheep, therefore he prefers to create made up positions to represent Catholic teachings.

At 12:13 transubstantiation. If Jesus was merely being symbolic. Why didn't he stop all those disciples from abandoning the faith in John 6:60-66? He let all those disciples just walk away without even attempting to say "wait a minute guys, don't take what I'm saying literally. I'm speaking metaphorically to you" or Jesus could've said anything at all to them, yet he did not. He allowed them to walk away because transubstantiation is such a hard thing. Seems like if Jesus was being metaphorical or speaking a parable he wouldn't have allowed all those disciples to walk away.

@@FleurPillager I would think that a Christian would understand that eternal life is exactly that .. eternal life. For the righteous is doesn't start after death and it doesn't end after death. Alan mentions necromancy. Asking a saint to pray for us is not necromancy. Necromancy is trying to communicate with the dead. Communication is a two-way conversation. I speak to them and expect them to engage in a conversation with me. Catholics do not engage in that. When we ask a saint to pray for us, just as we ask our friends here... the prayer we ask them to pray for us goes ONE WAY...to God in the name of the Blessed Holy Trinity. Why would we ask saint to pray for us? We usually ask a saint that has experienced what we feel we are experiencing or a saint we have something in common with to pray for us .. We pray to God. Just because we ask a Saint to pray for us doesn't mean we bypass God...but we know our prayers will usually be what we think we need, not what we truly need. The saint will pray for what we need which will bring us closer to Christ.. ..while our friends will pray for what our earthly minds want...

It also breaks my heart that so many believe Catholics are not Christian’s. It seems really disingenuous of him to not investigate the teachings of the Eucharist. I discovered that without this belief, one would not even be considered a Christian back before 100 AD. I was shocked to find out what St Ignatius and others who learned from the disciples taught. It blows my mind how early church history is not being taught. At the very least, he should study history first. I’m so happy to leave Protestantism behind. His comparison of Catholics praying to saints, as necromancy just proves how sola scriptura is wrong. These people believe they get to interpret all the scriptures however they want to 😢

@@mitchellosmer1293 You think you are saying exactly right but actually, you are spitting false assumptions that never supports the Christian Faith. How absurd these anti-Christ Protestant's unbiblical claims. You only proved that you do not read and understand the Holy Bible at all. The more you use hermeneutics to disprove the Doctrines of the Church, the more you will be put in shame more and the more you protest against the Church, the more you destroy your own anti-Christian beliefs. All of your claims are completely and totally wrong at all. . 1.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT PETER IS A POPE. Pope in Greek is πάππας (páppas) which means "father." In 1 Corinthians 11:3, it is clear that the man is the head of the woman telling us the leadership between the fatherhood [man] and the Church [woman]. "But I want you to understand that the Head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the Head of Christ is God." It is clear that Jesus called Simon, Peter in Greek Πέτρος, Petros in John 1:42 as Christ also called as Rock (1 Cor. 10:4). As the Holy Church has been established as early as 33 AD through St. Peter as the Rock of this Church (Mat. 16:18). "And I tell you, YOU ARE PETER, AND ON THIS ROCK I will build My Church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it." Jesus Christ never said this to Himself as referring to Rock but to Peter who named by Him as "Rock" to be the father of His Holy Church as Father Jesus is. It is clear that strongly misunderstood the Bible at all and your claim was a blatant error but purely lies and deception. Christ clearly taught implicitly that Peter was a pope. 2.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT THAT MARY WILL GO TO HEAVEN. Really? The Devil told tell you that? Your claim is highly demonic. In Luke 1:48, "for He has looked with favor on the lowly state of His servant. Surely from now on all generations will call me blessed," It is clear that Mary was a humble servant. Can a humble servant will not go in Heaven? Your claim is strongly against to the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 23:12. "Whoever will exalt himself will be humbled and whoever will humble himself will be exalted." Because God do not favor the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6) and He crowns the humble with victory (Psalms 149:4). The Book of Revelation 12:1 also testified that Mary is in Heaven contradictory to your anti-Christian claim. 3.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT THAT MARY AS A MEDIATOR/INTERCESSOR. Seriously? Did you know that Jesus Himself asked Mary, His Mother in matters of decision and acted as a mediator or intercessor between Her Son and the Disciples? (John 2:4-5) "And Jesus said to her, “O woman, what have you to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.” Christ indeed taught Mary to be a mediator/intercessor to the Disciples according to the Holy Scripture. 4.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT THAT MARY NEVER SINNED. If that's so, where in the Bible that Christ said Mary sinned. Give me the exact verse that Jesus Christ Himself taught that Mary is a sinner, and show me mentioning the sins of Mary according to the Bible. 5.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT THAT MARY REMAIN VIRGIN. This is the worst misunderstanding ever believed by the deceiving Protestants. This is the problem to most ignorant Protestants who do not understand the Bible and the veracity of the passages. First of all, the Greek of "brothers" translated to as "adelphos" which means actually a general term that could both refer to biological and non-biological siblings in the ancient world. It also describes nephews, cousins, relatives, uncles, even friends. In the Greek Bible, adelphos has also used to describe the relationship of Abraham and Lot (Genesis 13:8, 14:14-16). The Truth there is that the Bible actually mentioned multiple Mary's and those Mary's appeared in the Bible were not a single person referring to the Mother of the LORD (Luke 24:10). The Bible claims that Mary has only one biological child (John 2:1) and none of this passage said that Mary has multiple children. It also mentioned in (Acts 1:14) that the mentioned "other women" and the brothers of Jesus Christ there were separated to the description to Mary as the Mother of Jesus. In Mark 6:3, James and Joseph (also called as Joses) who were also called as Jesus' brothers obviously the children of [the other] Mary, not the Mother of Jesus. They were the children of other Mary (Matthew 27:56, Mark 15:40) and it never mentioned there that it refers to Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. In the Bible, it mentioned that Jesus has many brothers (Luke 8:19-21, Mark 3:31-35) not biologically but religiously and spiritually. If truly Mary has other children, then why is it that in the Mark 6:3 mentioned "sisters" of Jesus Christ where it mentioned repeatedly claiming that Jesus has only brothers? It contradicts the Biblical accounts itself. Paul also described Apostle James as the brother of Jesus (Galatians 1:19), then, Mary indeed has no other biological children and remained virgin since James was the son of Zebedee (Matthew 10:2) and the brothers of Simon Peter and John. The siblings --- Simon Peter, James, and John were recognized as the sons of Zebedee and did not recognize Jesus as their brother yet prostrating before Him instead (Luke 5:8-10). If Simon, James, and John were sons of Zebedee, Mary is obviously remained virgin because Zebedee was not Mary and her husband was not named as Zebedee. In fact, St. Paul also wrote that Jesus also has more than 500 brethren (1 Corinthians 15:6). If Mary has truly other children as biological brothers of Jesus Christ, then, you only showed that the Bible itself is contradicting with each other. Therefore, Christ Jesus taught us that Mary, His Mother has remained virgin and never bore other biological children other than Jesus Christ, the Lord.

@@mitchellosmer1293 6.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT THAT A MERE MAN IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH. According to the Bible, Jesus is undisputable and undeniably the Head (Colossians 1:18) and the Rock of the Church (1 Corinthians 10:4). If Jesus, the Rock made Simon as also a Rock (John 1:42), then He can also make Peter as the head of the Church like Him since the Apostles had [the Church] foundations as the LORD Jesus is the Cornerstone (Eph. 2:20), therefore, a man Peter was also the head of the Church but Christ is the Supreme Head of the whole Church. The Church Tradition upholds St. Peter as a Vicar of Christ or the substitute to Jesus Christ as a physical instrument for His Beloved Church. He assigned Peter to stand as a leader of His Church as Jesus Christ did lead them before His Passion and is the Head of the Church. In Matthew 16:18, it clearly states there that Christ Himself made Peter to be the head of the Church He will build like Him saying, "On this rock, I will build My Church." The Lord Jesus Christ also taught Peter feed His sheep, this is obviously leadership of His Church (John 21:15-17). 7.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT ABOUT A CHURCH NAMED CATHOLIC. Your highly opinionated assumption is definitely wrong and always incorrect at all. Totally false. Catholic term in Greek is "Katholikos" that was derived from the Greek roots, "Kata" means "according to/on the/throughout" and "holos" means "the whole." Meaning, Catholic/Katholikos is "according to the whole" or modernly means "universal." Christ commanded the Disciples to make the world His disciples (Matthew 28:19). This is obviously Catholic since making the world His disciples directly means the Church since Christians are not only Disciples but also the Church. You are completely wrong about your false claim because Christ indeed taught about the Church which was named Catholic. 8.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT THAT WE CAN PRAY TO THE DEAD. Christ indeed did not teach us to pray to the dead. Who told you that the Church is praying to the dead? Have you not read what the LORD said? All those who believe in Him will have Eternal Life (John 3:16). Christ is also clear that whoever believes in Him will live even though he dies (John 11:26). All physically dead saints who believes in Him are living because of their Faith in Jesus Christ, the LORD. Those saints are in coordination with the angels since their prayers are brought from the hands of the angel (Revelation 8:4). This only proves that you are unspiritual in nature. You only have the Bible and read it but you do not understand everything in it. 9.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT THAT THE DEAD CAN HEAR OUR PRAYERS. According to the LORD Jesus, God is not the GOD of dead but of the living (Matthew 22:32). If the dead do not hear prayers, then, how come Moses and Elijah [whom you considered as dead] appeared to Jesus and talked with them? (Matthew 17:3). You are proving more that your beliefs are not Christian at all.
@kingdaniel4756
@kingdaniel4756 24 күн бұрын
@@mitchellosmer1293 10.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT THAT YOU CAN CHANGE THE DAY OF WORSHIP. Christ actually did. You are pertaining to the Jewish Sabbath that Jesus was once broke. According to Jesus, a man was not made for Sabbath but the Sabbath was made for a man (Mark 2:27) because Jesus Himself is the Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28). If Christ is the Lord of Sabbath, therefore, He has the power to change the day He willed. In fact, the LORD Jesus Christ never said that the Jewish Sabbath Day should always be Saturday because it is not the day Jesus has been worshiped by the Disciples. It was actually the day after Sabbath which definitely Sunday (Matthew 28:1, 9). Moreover, the Lord Jesus Christ gave the Church the Authority and Power to change the day as long as it has been approved at least by three or more than, GOD will grant it (Matthew 18:18-20). This is evident that the Church moved the Day of Worship from the Jewish Saturday to the Christian Sunday, the Day of the LORD's Resurrection when Jesus was worshiped by his Disciples. You are claiming something that do not align to the Words of the LORD Jesus Christ. 11.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT TO CONFESS TO A "PRIEST." Are you sure? The Lord is clear about confession to the priest in Matthew 18:17. In the statement, "tell it to the Church" does perfectly encourages confession to the priest since priests are also part of the Church. So, sorry, you are completely an apostate to the Christian Faith. 12.) CHRIST NEVER TAUGHT A PRIEST CAN FORGIVE YOUR SINS. Liar! Christ absolutely did. It is clear in the Holy Scriptures that Christ taught the priests to forgive sins of any men. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself gave the Holy Church the power to forgive sins and then forgiven and if the Church retained it, those sins will be retained (John 20:22-23). The priests who are the pillars of the Church obtained such Authority to forgive sins. By this, you are opposing the Will of Jesus Christ to use the Divinely Authority given by Him to His Beloved Church. Since you are rejecting the Words of Jesus, you are proudly showing your identity as a pure Anti-Christ because Christ never taught everything you accused to the Holy Church built by the LORD Jesus Christ.

The difference in tone is very clear. Most Protestant apologists I've watched use really high tone, loud voice, quick tempo just to "dominate" the audience, and most Catholic apologists I've watched use pretty calm, normal voice to speak just like giving the message, to need to "pressure". The opposition in this video are day and night. For me, I prefer the more peaceful voice (plus the message).

I like to imagine purgatory like someone picking crops. Some of the crops are not salvageable and are thrown out. The ones that are in good condition may be dirty or have other small impurities that need to be cleansed by the farmer.

Allen Parr is young. He thinks he has it all together, but he has jumped to conclusions early in his life. He is a good teacher, but he draws conclusions on ideas that need more thought. I pray in time he will see more from a deeper experience in spiritual matters. I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
