Random tip for people that works for me: Q1 first, easy marks, familiarise with extract. Q2/3 you have ideas about the extract, start one of the short questions to get some more marks in the bag and get ur ideas flowing (almost like a warmup). I then move to Q5, the big marks, have a break from extract and start the other part of ur english brain going. Remembering to plan and only spent like 40/45 mins on it. Recap the extract and tackle the evil Q4, now youve warmed up get the rest of the big marks in. With the time you have left you only have a short 8 marker left so its not the end of the world if u dont finish it. So thats what works for me. 13542.

hi mr salles, i wrote a piece of creative writing based on a photo i found on the internet of some flowers in a field, and i was wondering if you could give me a rough mark/grade based on it :) The facade of liveliness sickens me everyday. The tulips do not belong in this dreary field. They stand out, fluorescent orange in the sun's haze. Crowding miserably around them stands dilapidated shards of grass, crumpled and squashed: diamonds devalued once met with human touch. Against my bare legs, the sharp edges cause an insufferable itchiness, like a clothing tag begging to be ripped off. They encase the dainty flowers like a glass closet - I scoff at their pathetic attempt at shielding. Whistling carelessly below me, the helpless screams of the infant petals are drowned out by the howling of the wind; yet another victim to the brutal reality of death. Commemoration seems only appropriate - I allow the soft, silky petals to caress my skin: their pureness likens them to a deceased child, taken from the world before they have had time to blossom. As I peeled my eyes from them, I noticed the beauty of the setting. The whole area is heavenly, suffused with the smell of liveliness. For a moment in time, my mind slips of the dreaded darkness in the distance: trees cowering; wildlife erased; clouds bustling, threatening with a tantrum, like a toddler gifted with an unpleasant Christmas present. Fear and dreadfulness fumigates my nose. The gloomy grey sky peers down at me - it's massiveness engulfs any worth I have. I am a mere speck in an ever expanding universe of terror. Wistfulness is all I can feel, as the clouds cry out hysterically - yearning for the comfort of the ambient temperature of my abode - the bawling is uncontainable. those sanctuary appear so close, it could not be further from me. The tulips mock me as I scurry through the knives surrounding them - I envy their ability to adapt. Their once comforting orange pigment begins to insult my current discomfort. An impending doom awaits me. (308 words) im aware that it's quite short, i am working on making it longer :)

Please could you mark this AQA English Language Paper Q5 The old grandfather had seen better days. Judging by his weak and frail face. Old and wrinkled as if a piece of paper has been scrunched up and opened up again. He has lived a very merry and a jolly childhood until the age of 80. His days of running, playing with a football for hours on end, blasting water guns on soft faces and soaking clothes and people like a shower has come to an end. The days of the grandfather fondling, playing football and playing video games with the grandchildren have come to a complete stop. All there is now, is a spirit, slowly oozing out of this man’s face day by day. Deteriorating day by day until his final place of rest is his coffin and the graveyard. Hang on a second, the Grandfather hasn’t fully passed yet, his white and old frail eyes still have more things to see. The grandchildren still love their Grandfather with all of their heart! His old and frail fingers still work tirelessly when his fingers dance around on a controller with the grand children. He may not be smiling due to his immense old age but he still has some life left in his darkened, glowing face. He may use a wheelchair, but he still gets to take the grandchildren to the park and make them laugh and happy. Though now his face is starting to become all frail, old and wrinkly. He still has more life yet despite him being closer and closer to his grave. Depression and harsh memories from WWII has hit him harder than a canon. Along side the PTSD. The old Grandfather had seen better days after wartime, dark and pleasant moments. He had a jolly childhood until war. It may have took him many years to recover, but now he is getting closer to his grave. The wrinkles and the illness on his face says it all.
