With these sites, you can use the photos and vectors in a project, like a brochure for a client. I would assume you can't sell the downloaded design itself, though. Each site's license will give this info, though.

What would be a case if we use one of these public domain image to design a website and later on we find it someone else is using the same image in their website and they have copyrighted the whole website including the content , will there be copyright issue ?

They can copyright their design, but they can't lay claim to the images. BUT I found out that the owners of the free stock photos can rescind their 'free' license at any time, which would cause you to not hold a license on those images anymore. So I started reaching out to the owners individually to get written approval to use the images. Quite a pain, honestly. Recently I've tried just taking photos myself.

Graphic Design How To for public domain vectors could I use the designs to create on print on demand sites? Since commercial use is allowed?

@@davidholliman5 I don't think the print on demand sites themselves allow that - you would need to check 2 places - the POD site terms and the public domain vector site terms.

No. They’re ok for commercial projects, though, like a brochure for a client. You can’t sell the image though.

Aww thank you! Most of the time, stock images are either grouped or masked. So to ungroup, select it first, then use Shift CMD G or Shift CTRL G. If it's masked, select it first, then use OPT CMD 7 or ALT CTRL 7. Then you should be able to move pieces around.

Sorry for asking, I'm just still confused. When they say free for commercial use, does that include using those photos as materials for collage and references for making other artworks that will be printed on merch and sold as your own items?

Let's say I'm doing a digital collage that will be used as design for a shirt I will be selling, am I allowed to get photos from there, edit/manipulate/redraw them and such, then sell the final outputs in my own shop?

Hmmm, it's such a gray area - I'm not 100% sure... but none of the big stock websites allow this, so it's probably not allowed from a copyright standpoint. For example, if I want to draw a giraffe and used a photo for my base art, I have to prove to them that I took the photo too.

I don't have that artistic gene, so I rather get something already done for a tee shirt or two, my question do I have to change the vector image, or can I use it as is? Again, I don't have the creative gene.

You most likely can't use a vector as-is. Most sites that allow 'commercial use' don't allow that...they allow the image to be used in, say, a brochure, but not sold as-is. An option would be to find someone on Etsy to make some vectors for you and make sure you own all rights (it'll probably be a little expensive). Then those images are yours and you can do whatever you like with them.

what do you mean by credit the author? If i take some part from one vectessey file and some part from another? then what will be scenario?

This is probably something you would need to ask Vecteezy. I wouldn't recommend doing that - if you're skilled enough to combine two files into something different, you should just draw them yourself...that's my opinion. :)

I think your best bet would be pexels.com or unsplash.com (they still have copyrights, but are ok to use commercially). I'm not aware of any that focus specifically on Afrocentric art.

No, anything you add to any site needs to be your own creation - Freepik vectors are copyright-protected (even if they're free) and Printful, Teespring, Redbubble, etc consider it stealing...eventually they'll shut your site down.

Wait a minute... The pexel website, "It's not okay to sell the photos" so what's the point of the whole free-for-commercial- use-no-attribution thing..?! Am I not allowed to use them in a gig at fiverr for example? - Which the profit is extremely low btw, specially for new sellers. So again what's the point if "not allowed"?

You can't sell the images, but you could use them in a brochure for a client (for example), and charge the client for the brochure. That's generally the meaning of 'commercial use' when you see it in licensing agreements. Another example is fonts purchased for commercial use. You can't sell the font file itself, but you can use the font in projects that you get paid for.

No, anything you sell on any site needs to be your own creation - The designs are copyright-protected, even though they're free, and Etsy will consider it stealing...eventually they'll shut your shop down. The commercial use part applies to using the images in magazine ads, brochures, websites - basically to help promote something you're selling. Selling them as-is isn't allowed (as far as I know).

You can just google the name of the site and commercial use license, so "Unsplash commercial use license" and it will usually take you to the licensing page.

It all depends on what you're looking for. If you need generic images for a blog, you can find a lot of high-quality ones. If you're looking for a specific scene, you're going to struggle. You'll probably need to go to a paid stock image site, like Shutterstock or Adobe Stock for those.
