It's the same as comparing Maldini and Nesta. Both have their strengths and weaknesses but Rio was a better footballer overall and offered more to the team in counter attacking transitions. Vidic was the perfect no nonsense partner bailing his team out of trouble at the expense of his own body. That commitment and aggression made him a fan favorite but Rio Ferdinand was simply better.

Prime Vidic was ahead of Prime Terry however I would have to agree that John Terry at his best had more to him than Rio did. Coming from a United fan since 97 and a former Proffesional footballer. So you could argue he was probably more important to the team than those two. Those Arsenal sides were full of pure leaders.
