Absolutely, Stoicism shares similarities with the Serenity Prayer in its focus on accepting what cannot be changed, courageously changing what can be, and cultivating wisdom to discern between the two. Living a Stoic life involves embracing a mindset of resilience, inner peace, and virtue, even in the face of adversity.

I've gone through a lot these past few months: I broke my leg in a car accident, saw the girl i really liked get with someone else, lost my job, had some real dark thoughts... A stoic attitude has helped me tremendously. When i think back to how I used to be, I realise that I should be proud of myself for how I handled these situations. I did not freak out or get too emotional but instead understood that this is life and that you have to remain calm and rational through it all. Particularly the car accident, I was very calm as I lay there thinking I could die, emergency services all around me, my leg was in so much pain and wobbling around like a noodle but I somehow kept calm. This is because I thought, "What has happened, happened, and for me to come out of this with the best chance of a positive outcome, I need to think rationally, keep calm, listen to instructions and make smart decisions." It was like I turned myself into my own stoic mentor in a time of crisis, i guess i followed rule 3. We are capable of so much more than we think, we just need to use our minds to its full capacity

It's fascinating how sometimes our personal values and behaviors align with philosophical principles without us even realizing it. Stoicism often resonates with people because it encapsulates many common-sense ideas about resilience, self-discipline, and emotional intelligence. It's wonderful to hear that you're already practicing some Stoic principles, even if you weren't familiar with the philosophy itself. Learning about Stoicism might provide you with additional insights and perspectives to further enhance your approach to life.

I'm working on things, where I had not worry about things I couldn't control as I should ignore others who act ignorant, learn to listen before talking so I'd understand things but be ready for the unexpected. I told myself I don't know how so good I got it, I got a awsome high paying job working as a custodian janitor for 4 years at goodwill having some good friends and a wonderful family before I deal with everyday stuff I'd usally go to the gym to work out, get extra stronger blow off steam but distress from situations especially when beefing with toxic assholes that wanna pick fights with me. Some things are hard to deal with but I know it's apart of life at least I'm on the right paths and got support when I struggle.

Unconsciously wanting to have everything under control is a symptom of power (in my opinion), but if you don't put limits on that unconsciousness, putting the focus where you can really control things, it will be of no use, it would only generate anxiety.

You can over come your fear of death by not saying you get to live forever with God but by accepting and coming to terms with your own mortality. It will take time, but it can happen.
